NMPA Chief Engineer Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details
One post of Chief Engineer (Civil) in the scale of pay of Rs. 100000-260000 in New Mangalore Port Authority will be vacant with effect from June 1, 2026. The post is to be filled by absorption through a composite method from officers of Major Ports.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualifications (Essential):
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
- Fifteen years experience in executive cadre in Planning/Construction/Design/Maintenance preferably of Port and Marine Structures in an Industrial/Commercial/Govt. Undertaking.
- For absorption through composite method: Officers holding posts in the scale of pay of Rs. 80000-220000/- with three years regular service in the grade in the Civil Engineering Department in a Major Port Trust shall be eligible. The feeder post is Deputy Chief Engineer in the pay scale of Rs.80000-220000/-.
Salary/Stipend
- Initial Scale of Pay: Rs. 100000-260000.
- Note: The pay scale will be upgraded to the scale of pay of Rs.120000-280000/- after completion of three years regular service in the post, subject to fulfilling relevant conditions.
Age Limit (as on 01 June 2026)
- There is 45 upper age limit specified for candidates applying via the absorption through composite method.
- The crucial date for eligibility criteria will be the date of arising of the vacancy, i.e., June 1, 2026.
Selection Process
- The selection is by merit, for which the benchmark in overall grading in the Annual Confidential Reports/APARs will not be below "Very Good" for the last five years (2020-2021 to 2024-2025).
- Selection is made by the Services Selection Committee.
- Port officials who withdraw their candidature after selection by the Services Selection Committee will be liable for debarment from future selection to HOD level posts in all Major Ports for a period of two years.

- Only applications submitted through the Online Application Portal (OAP) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (https://onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in) shall be accepted.
- No application other than those submitted through OAP shall be accepted.
- The administrative Ports are required to forward the hard copy applications with required documents (certified APARs, integrity certificate, vigilance clearance, NOC, etc.) to NMPA by January 30, 2026.
- Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will not be considered.

- Register and apply online through the 'online Application Portal' (OAP) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways at `https://onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in` between December 16, 2025, and January 15, 2026.
- Take a print-out of the online application form uploaded in OAP.
- The print-out should be signed and sent through the proper channel (via the administrative Port Authority Secretary/Chairperson) along with certified copies of educational qualifications, experience, PPOs, and attested APARs for the last 5 years.
- The envelope containing the hard copy must be superscribed "Application for the post of Chief Engineer (Civil) in New Mangalore Port Authority".
