Eligibility Criteria
Qualification
A degree in a general stream from a recognised State or Central university: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Computer Application, Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Arts. Engineering, pharmacy and other professional degrees are not listed and are not covered by this advertisement.
Who is not eligible
These three conditions disqualify more applicants than the degree requirement does, so check them first:
- Candidates who have had training or job experience of one year or more after obtaining the qualifying degree.
- Candidates who obtained the degree more than two years ago.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training anywhere under the Apprentices Act, 1961 (the affidavit condition below confirms this).
If more than one year has passed between the declaration of your degree result and the start of training, you must submit an affidavit in the prescribed format confirming that, after passing, you had no training or job experience of one year or more and did not undergo apprenticeship training under the Act anywhere.
Age
Minimum 18 years as on the date of application. The advertisement sets no upper age limit; the two-year-since-degree rule is the effective ceiling.
Reservation
Seats are reserved under Sections 3A and 3B of the Apprentices Act and Rule 5 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992: UR 25, SC 7, ST 10, OBC (non-creamy layer) 8. Two seats are reserved horizontally for persons with disabilities: one OH (locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy) and one MD (autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness).
Stipend and Duration
- Stipend: Rs. 12,300 per month.
- Duration: one year of practical training for the apprenticeship year 2025–26.
- Contract: selected apprentices sign a contract of apprenticeship as per rules; other terms follow the Apprentices Act, 1961 as amended in 1973, 2014 and 2019.
- No job on completion: the advertisement states that no request for appointment to any post in the factory will be entertained after training. This is a training engagement, not a route to employment at OFI.

How to Apply for Ordnance Factory Itarsi Graduate Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Only applications in the prescribed format are accepted. The format is pages 3 and 4 of the advertisement PDF (Hindi version on pages 7 to 9).
- Print the application format and fill it in block letters. Your name and date of birth must match your SSC (10th) certificate.
- Tick the degree stream (B.Sc / B.Com / BCA / BA / BBA) and your category (SC / ST / OBC-NCL / UR / PwD OH or MD).
- Enter the degree details: period of study, exam passed, institute, full marks, marks obtained and percentage, the date the result was declared, and the university that conferred the degree. Marks decide the merit list, so copy them exactly from your mark sheets.
- Answer the work-experience questions honestly: whether you have one year or more of experience after the degree, the period, and whether you are currently employed in an ordnance factory, under the Ministry of Defence, other Central Government, State Government, PSU or a non-government organisation. If you are employed in any of these, the application must be routed through proper channel and you must tick the confirmation.
- Affix one recent passport-size photograph, self-signed across the front, in the box on the form.
- Attach copies of: proof of date of birth, mark sheets of all years, degree certificate, and SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwD certificate if claiming reservation. Applications without these are rejected. The Hindi version of the note asks for copies attested by a gazetted officer; the English version, which governs in case of dispute, does not, so attested copies are the safer choice.
- List the enclosures in item 20 of the form, sign the declaration with date and place, and post the application to:
The Chief General Manager,
Ordnance Factory Itarsi,
Narmadapuram (M.P.) – 461122
Before you post
- Speed post or registered post gives you a receipt and tracking; the factory does not accept postal delay as a reason for a late application.
- Keep a photocopy of the completed form and all enclosures.
- The declaration states that you have never been debarred from an examination or involved in a criminal case; read it before signing.
- The factory's contact for queries: phone 07572-268510-12, email [email protected].
Selection Process
There is no written test or interview. The factory prepares a merit list on the marks obtained in the degree (the advertisement refers to the final-year examination, read as the aggregate of all years), followed by document verification. Selected candidates then undergo police verification and a medical examination before training begins. Candidates should expect their degree percentage to be the only competitive factor.
