Eligibility Criteria
- News Reader (Garhwali): Essential - Degree from a recognized University, Proficiency in Garhwali, Camera friendly face with a voice of a very good quality suited to Broadcasting, Correct pronunciation, accent and modulation, Knowledge of current regional/Indian and foreign affairs, Acquaintance with name of important personalities in the Region/India and abroad. Preferable - Journalism background, Professional background in the field of academic or related areas, Experience with Television/Radio Media. Desirable - Knowledge of English, Hindi, Ability to interview people who matter in news, Ability to write news stories and report events.
- News Reader (Kumauni): Essential - Degree from a recognized University, Proficiency in Kumauni, Camera friendly face with a voice of a very good quality suited to Broadcasting, Correct pronunciation, accent and modulation, Knowledge of current regional/Indian and foreign affairs, Acquaintance with name of important personalities in the Region/India and abroad. Selection Process
- RNU, DDK Dehradun/Prasar Bharati reserves the right to shortlist suitable candidates who apply for various categories of casual assignees based on relevant age, education, experience, and other criteria. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for skill tests/auditions/interviews.
- RNU, DDK Dehradun/Prasar Bharati reserves the right to conduct any skill tests (written, interview, computer-based test, test through video conferencing, audition, screen test, etc.) in any format—such as multiple choice or descriptive for written exams, group discussion or one-on-one interviews, voice modulation tests, editing software proficiency, etc.—to assess the skills, suitability, and personality of the shortlisted candidates. No TA/DA will be paid to the shortlisted candidates who will be called for the skill tests/audition/interview.
General Information / Instructions
- The empanelment process is being conducted to identify suitable candidates who may be engaged purely on a casual basis for performing specific assignments in RNU DDK Dehradun. The persons selected through empanelment process shall have no claim, either implicit or explicit, for absorption or regularization in RNU DDK Dehradun/Prasar Bharati.
- Selection through the empanelment process does not guarantee assignments from RNU DDK Dehradun. Assignments will be provided to empanelled candidates by RNU DDK Dehradun on an ‘as and when required’ basis. Candidates cannot demand assignments as a right and will have no claim to receiving assignments from RNU DDK Dehradun/Prasar Bharati.
- The empanelment shall commence from the date of issuance of the Doordarshan News order, as approved by the Director General, DD News, listing the names of selected candidates in various categories of casual assignees. If required, the performance of the assignees on the panel may be reviewed through a duly constituted committee.
- Applicants are required to submit self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents demonstrating their compliance with age, experience, education and other criteria. Applications submitted without the necessary self-attested documents will be summarily rejected, and no further correspondence will be entertained regarding incomplete applications.
- For determining the age, experience, and education criteria, relevant certificates shall be considered up to and including the date of issuance of this notification.
- Candidates are requested to keep checking inbox/ spam/junk folders for any communication from email id : [email protected], [email protected].
- The remuneration fee offered for selected candidates in empanelment process shall strictly follow the prevailing fee structure for casual assignees working in RNU, DD News.
- If a candidate wishes to apply for multiple causal categories, a separate application form needs to be submitted.
- Any attempt at canvassing or undue influence will result in the immediate disqualification of the candidate.
- Director General, DD News, reserves the right to cancel the empanelment process at any time, without prior notice.
How to Apply
- Candidates who are eligible and willing to adhere to the terms and conditions outlined above may submit their applications in the prescribed format (Annexure I-A), along with self-attested copies of all necessary documents, including certificates of educational qualifications, proof of age, experience certificates, and any other relevant documents. Applications should be addressed to the Head, Regional News Unit (RNU), Doordarshan Kendra, Post – Prasar Bharati Building, Near Rispana Bridge, Haridwar Bypass, Dehradun-248001, and sent by Speed Post only. The envelope must be clearly marked with the heading “Empanelment of (Name of the category) for RNU, DDK, Dehradun.”
- Applications must be received by RNU, DDK Dehradun by 15th February 2026. Applications submitted in person, by hand, or by any other mode will not be accepted. RNU shall not be held responsible for any delays in postal delivery.
- A separate detailed CV may also be submitted along with the prescribed application format (Annexure I-A), if candidates wish to provide additional information about their academic and professional skills and achievements. However, the prescribed application format (Annexure I-A) must be submitted without exception.
