Vacancy Details
Stringers are required for empanelment in the following districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee (Haridwar), Tehri, Chamoli, Pauri, Kotdwar (Pauri), Almora, Sult (Almora), Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, and Udhamsingh Nagar.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proprietor, Partnership firm, corporate body/Organization with experience in visuals coverage.
- Applicants equipped with four-wheel vehicles preferred.
- Qualification, experience and expertise in cinematography/videography/news gathering/broadcast journalism.
- Adequate facilities and equipment to undertake coverages (DVC-Pro/DV-CAM/CCD/Mini DV acceptable).
- Copies of proof of Academic and Technical qualifications, Experience and Equipment ownership to be submitted.
- Physical verification of equipments and documents will be done.
Salary/ Stipend
- Local coverage of duration of 6 hours: Rs. 1500 per coverage (inclusive of transportation and delivery charges).
- If duration of 6 hours exceeded or locations apart more than 10 Kms: Treated as two coverages, 2nd coverage paid @ Rs. 1000.
- Outstation coverage (beyond geographic limit of the town of the Kendra): Rs. 1800 irrespective of length of footage or usage (inclusive of transportation and delivery charges).
- Paid irrespective of length of footage or its usage.

- Non-refundable processing fee: Rs. 1180/- (including 18% GST).
- Demand Draft in favour of Drawing & Disbursing Officer, Doordarshan Kendra, Dehradun.

Selection Process
- Selection and Empanelment Committee constituted (5-member committee including RNU In-Charge, Engineer in-Charge, Senior Producer, Administrative Officer, and outside expert).
- Preliminary Scrutiny to shortlist applicants.
- Test coverage by short-listed applicants (two test coverages using own equipment).
- Interview.
- Verification of equipment and documents (physical verification).
- Final panel based on assessment scale, interview, and test coverage quality.
- Selected Stringers to sign contract.
General Information/ Instructions
- Stringers expected to service news coverages, short features on news, current affairs, sports, business etc.
- Stringers to provide raw footage, dope sheet, press material and script for each coverage.
- Panel revised every two years.
- Stringers removed on grounds including: refusal to cover assigned coverages (two or more occasions), poor content/technical quality, delay in providing coverage, sub-contracting, cartel system, incorrect information, any act causing embarrassment to Prasar Bharati.
- First default communicated in writing for improvement.
- Show Cause Notice issued before removal; appeal to Director General, Doordarshan possible within 30 days.
- Removed Stringers ineligible for empanelment at any other Kendra.

- Applications in prescribed format (Annexure ‘A’) submitted in triplicate.
- Supported with Demand Draft of Rs. 1180/- (including 18% GST) non-refundable processing fee.
- Enclose attested copies of certificates for qualifications, experience, equipment etc.
- In sealed cover superscribed “Empanelment of Stringers of DD News”.
- Submit on or before 20 February 2026 to: Head, Regional News Unit, Doordarshan Kendra, Near Rispana Pul, Haridwar Bypass Road, Dehradun.
