For all the above posts, under Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994, candidates must have passed Punjabi at Matriculation level, or an equivalent qualification: "No person shall be appointed to any post in any service by direct appointment unless he has passed Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language which may be specified by the Government from time to time."

Per Punjab Government notification No. G.S.R.7/Const./Art.309/Amd.(23)/2026 dated 21.01.2026, the candidate must fulfil the required educational qualifications before the last date for online application: "The cut-off date to determine the minimum educational and other qualifications, unless otherwise specifically provided in the relevant rules, shall be the last date for submission of application forms."

SSSB Punjab Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The age limit for these posts, as on 01.01.2026, as per Punjab Government instructions, is:

• No candidate of any category should be less than 18 years of age.
• The upper age limit for General category candidates should not exceed 37 years.
• The maximum upper age limit for Scheduled Caste candidates who are residents of Punjab State shall be 42 years.
• The maximum age limit, giving relaxation in upper age limit for State and Central Government employees, shall be 45 years.
• The upper age limit for widows, divorcees and certain other categories of married women, as per Punjab Government instructions vide letter No. 1/50/83-5PP(1368)/3454 dated 23.04.1984, will be relaxed up to 40 years.

State and Central Government employees seeking upper age relaxation must obtain an NOC from their department and present it at the time of counseling.

SSSB Punjab Recruitment 2026 Reservation Instructions

• Candidates should carefully fill their category and category code in the online form, as this cannot be changed at any stage after the form is filled.
• The benefit of reservation is available only to residents of Punjab. Candidates must keep this in mind while filling category and category code; eligibility will be considered only on the basis of the category and category code entered in the online form.
• To claim reservation, every candidate (male or female), regardless of category, must upload/produce a Domicile Certificate/Residence Certificate not more than 5 years old at the time of upload/production.
• The Scheduled Caste certificate must be as per prevailing Punjab Government instructions.
• Women candidates will be given the benefit of reservation as per the Punjab Government notification titled "The Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020", No. G.S.R. 87/Const/Art.309 and 15/2020 dated 21/10/2020, and amendments issued from time to time.
• Instructions issued by the Punjab Government from time to time will apply to candidates belonging to denotified tribes (Vimukt Jati).
• Candidates must produce valid certificates related to their category at the time of counseling and at any other stage as required by the Board. In the absence of any required document at the time of counseling, the candidate will not be considered for the posts, and the next eligible candidate on the merit list will be recommended to the concerned department instead.
• Merit for candidates in the sportsperson category will be decided as per the notification dated 09.03.2026 issued by the Department of Sports, Punjab, and instructions issued from time to time.
• For Legal Assistant posts, department preference from candidates will be taken at a later stage.

SSSB Punjab Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

• Candidates who successfully apply for the notified posts will be called for an Objective Type (Multiple Choice Question, MCQ) written examination.
• The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination. There will be negative marking in this written examination: each question carries 1 mark, and ¼ mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
• In case of a tie in merit in the written examination: first, the candidate with the higher age (based on date of birth) will rank above; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage in the required educational qualification will rank above; if this is also tied, the candidate with higher marks in Matriculation will rank above.
• Based on the merit list, candidates will be called for counseling for verification of all documents. The number of candidates called for counseling will be decided by the Board or its competent authority/officer, keeping in view the category-wise number of vacancies.
• After counseling, the names of candidates found completely successful/eligible will be recommended to the concerned department as per the then-current number of vacancies (which may be reduced or increased at any time during the recruitment process as per the concerned department's orders/instructions).
• Applying online, appearing in the written exam, having one's name in the merit list, or being called for counseling does not by itself entitle a candidate to be recommended for a post. Only after the candidate's eligibility is proved in every respect will their name be recommended to the department on the basis of merit in the written examination. If a candidate is unable to prove their eligibility, their candidature will be cancelled, and the Board's decision in this regard will be final.
• Candidates called for counseling will be considered only under the category/post code against which they applied.

A candidate will be declared ineligible and their candidature will be cancelled in any of the following situations:

1. Full fee not received, or fee not deposited as per the prescribed method.

4. Having been declared ineligible by the Subordinate Services Selection Board or any other institution.
5. Not fulfilling educational qualification, age, reservation, or other recruitment conditions.

How to Apply for SSSB Punjab Recruitment 2026

SSSB Punjab Apply Online

1. Candidates can apply only online, by clicking the link under "Apply Online" on the Board's website https://sssb.punjab.gov.in, from 01-10-2026 to 22-10-2026. Applications received through any other method will not be accepted and will be considered rejected.
2. Registration and Login: Candidates who do not have a Login/User ID must click "Registration" and fill in their details, which will generate their User ID and Password. The User ID will be the Email ID entered at the time of registration. Online application can be done only after successful registration, using the User ID (Email ID). Candidates should keep this User ID/Password safe for future use. After registration, candidates should log in with their registered Email ID and continue the online application process.
3. Filling the Online Application Form: Candidates first fill in their personal, educational and other required information correctly and completely, then upload a passport-size photo (or capture a live photo through the camera), along with a scanned copy of their signature. Applications sent without a photo and signature will be considered incomplete and rejected. Candidates then click "Save Draft" or "Next".
4. Attach Annexure: Candidates click "Attach Annexure" and upload scanned copies of their 10th class certificate, certificates related to educational qualification, and other mandatory documents, then click "Save Documents".
5. Make Payment: Candidates click "Make Payment" and pay the online fee.
6. Submit: After paying the fee, candidates click "Submit" to complete the application process.
