Note on this article: Each unit's slots are further broken down by trade (e.g. Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, Diesel Mechanic, etc.) and by category (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS), with separate reserved slots for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) and Ex-servicemen, set out in detailed tables for each of the 8 units in the official notification. Given the scale of this breakdown (dozens of trade rows across 8 separate unit tables), this article presents unit-level totals only; candidates must check the official notification for the exact trade-wise and category-wise slot count for their chosen unit and trade before applying, since a candidate may only select a unit where a training slot exists for their specific ITI trade.
When the prescribed number of SC or ST candidates are not available, those reserved training places may be filled by the other of the two (SC by ST, or vice versa); if still unfilled, they may be filled by candidates not belonging to SC/ST. Similarly, seats remaining unfilled by OBC/EWS candidates will be filled by unreserved category candidates. Reserved PwBD and Ex-servicemen seats are not separate or additional - they are already included within the total slots shown for each trade.
NWR Act Apprentice Eligibility Criteria
NWR Act Apprentice Qualification

NWR Act Apprentice Application Fee
| Category | Application Fee (Non-refundable) |
|---|---|
| All candidates except those listed below | ₹100 |
| SC/ST, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Women | Nil |
Fee payment is made online through the payment gateway integrated with the online application, using debit card, credit card, Internet Banking, or similar modes, after the application form is completed and verified for correctness; no change/edit is allowed after fee payment. Any transaction charges for online payment are borne by the candidate. On successful payment, an e-receipt is generated, which should be printed and retained.
NWR Act Apprentice Selection Process
Selection is based on a merit list prepared for all candidates who apply against the notification, calculated as the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and the percentage of marks in ITI, in the trade in which apprenticeship is sought.
- For Matriculation percentage, marks obtained by the candidate in all subjects are considered - not the marks of any single subject or group of subjects.
- For ITI percentage, marks mentioned in the provisional/final certificate are considered.
- In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier is considered first.
- The final merit list is prepared division/unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of the percentage of marks obtained.
- Candidates finally enlisted are subject to verification of original testimonials and production of a medical certificate (as per the notification's Annexure-IV).
Candidates should note that no centralised merit list is formed - each unit's merit list is prepared separately based on candidates who applied for that specific unit.
Medical Fitness
Selected candidates must produce a medical certificate in the prescribed format at the time of Document Verification, signed by a Government-authorised Gazetted Doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital. Standards of fitness for Persons with Disability are also specified in the notification, covering Locomotor Disability/Cerebral Palsy (not less than 40% relevant disability), Hearing Impairment (loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear, including Deaf, Dumb, or Deaf & Dumb candidates), and other benchmark disability categories as defined in the notification.
