Minimum qualifying marks: 50 percentile score. Shortlisting for interview will be in a 1:3 ratio on the basis of CBT performance. If fewer than 5 times applications are received, all eligible candidates may be called directly for interview.
Stage 3 – Personal Interaction / Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview (physical or virtual mode) assessing relevance and quality of work experience, qualifications, professional/extra-curricular achievements, projects handled, and published articles/books/papers. Minimum qualifying marks for interview (if no CBT): 50%. Final merit list is prepared with CBT:Interview weightage of 80:20. Tie-breaking: higher CBT marks → higher eligibility qualification marks.
Travel Reimbursement for Interview: Candidates invited in-person for interview will be reimbursed single to-and-fro 2AC train fare (shortest route) from normal place of correspondence to interview venue, subject to rail/road distance exceeding 30 km each way, on production of documentary proof.

Who should NOT apply for SAIL BSL Young Professional Recruitment 2026?
- Fresh graduates with no post-qualification experience; minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience is mandatory even for YP-1.
- Candidates who do not hold a Regular/Full-time B.E./B.Tech with minimum 65% marks; Distance/Correspondence/Off-campus mode qualifications are explicitly not eligible.
- Candidates seeking permanent or regular employment; this is strictly a fixed-term "Contract for Service" with no right to regularization.
- Candidates whose post-qualification experience does not match the specific domain requirement of the applied role (e.g., applying as Refractory Engineer without Coke Oven experience, or Blast Furnace Consultant without Integrated Steel Plant operations experience).
- Candidates exceeding the upper age limit — 35 years for YP-1, 38 years for YP-2, 42 years for YP-3 — as on the closing date.
- Candidates who have not completed 23 years of age as on the closing date.
- Candidates with experience from unregistered/unorganized sector companies that cannot provide valid experience certificates, appointment orders, or pay slips.
- Candidates with pending criminal cases or convictions for offences involving moral turpitude; pre-engagement verification of character and antecedents will be conducted.
- Govt./PSU/Autonomous Body employees who cannot obtain NOC from their present employer before the interview stage.
- Candidates looking for perks such as PRP, provident fund, pension, gratuity, or loans — none of these benefits are applicable under the YP policy.
Common Mistakes / What to Check Before Applying for SAIL BSL Young Professional Recruitment 2026?
- Applying for more than one level or more than one domain/role; only one level and one domain is permitted per candidate.
- Not verifying that your B.E./B.Tech percentage meets the minimum 65% threshold (or equivalent CGPA as per University norms); submitting applications below this cut-off wastes the Rs. 500/- registration fee.
- Uploading insufficient or vague experience certificates that do not clearly mention job profile, designation, area of work, and period — SAIL-BSL will verify at interview stage.
- Applying without Appointment Letters, Promotion Orders, Release Orders, or last Pay Slip from the company supporting the claimed experience.
- Not reading the role-specific desirable qualifications/experience — having desirable qualifications (e.g., PMP certification for Project Engineer, MBA for Supply Chain Manager) improves shortlisting prospects significantly.
- Using an inactive or incorrect email ID / mobile number; all communications including interview call letters and admit cards are sent only through email/SMS.
- Submitting incomplete applications or applications without payment of registration fee; such applications will be summarily rejected with no communication.
- Candidates with CGPA-based degrees not carrying a copy of their University's conversion norms to the interview; conversion will be done proportionately (CGPA × 10) if no norms are specified.
- Assuming the engagement will lead to permanent absorption; SAIL-BSL explicitly states this creates no right to regularization against any permanent position.
