Eligibility Criteria
Caste Eligibility (Mandatory)
- Exclusive for SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe) candidates only.
- Not open to General category candidates.
- Not open to OBC candidates.
- Candidates must be domiciled in Kerala or have valid residence in Kerala (candidates should confirm any specific residency requirement with ICRI/Spices Board).
Educational Qualification (Essential)
- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (M.Lib / M.Sc Library Science) from a recognized University/Institute.
- Degree must be from an accredited/recognized institution.
- Regular full-time course only; part-time or distance education is not accepted.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 30 years.
- Age as on: 26-02-2026 (date of walk-in test).
- Age calculation based on Date of Birth as on 26-02-2026.
- No age relaxation for any category; strict upper age limit applies.
Ineligibility Conditions
- Candidates who have previously completed training in any of the offices of the Spices Board are not eligible to apply again.

Stipend, Leave & Benefits
Stipend & Remuneration
- Monthly stipend: Rs. 21,000/- per month.
- Annual stipend value: Approximately Rs. 2,52,000/- for one year.
- Stipend will be paid on a monthly basis.
Leave Entitlements
- Casual Leave: 1 day per month.
- Total casual leave: 12 days per year.
- Other leave: As per norms applicable to training positions of Spices Board/Government guidelines.

Training Duration & Terms
Duration
- Initial training period: One year from the date of joining.

- No transfer or relocation to other centers during the training period.

- Candidates must arrange their own travel and accommodation at their own cost (no TA/DA provided).
Documents Required for Walk-in Test
1. Application Form (Annexure I)
- Download Annexure I (Application Form) for Library Trainee from the Spices Board website or collect it at the venue.
- Fill in all details completely in your own handwriting.
- Ensure you sign the application form.
- Mention the subject as: “Application for Library Trainee”.
2. Photographs
- Recent passport-size colour photograph (4x6 cm or 2x2 inches).
- Bring at least 2–3 copies.
3. Original Certificates
- Proof of Identity: Original Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, or Passport.
- Proof of Age: Original 10th Standard Certificate or Birth Certificate or any government-issued document containing Date of Birth.
- Educational Certificates: Original Master’s Degree certificate in Library and Information Science and relevant mark sheets from a recognized university/institute.
- Caste Certificate: Original SC/ST caste certificate issued by competent authority (mandatory).
4. Self-Attested Photocopies
- One complete set of self-attested photocopies of: proof of identity, proof of age, educational qualification certificates, and caste certificate.
- Attach 2 copies of the passport-size photograph (self-attested, if required).
- All photocopies should be stapled together along with the filled application form.
- Candidate must sign on each photocopy for self-attestation.

Selection Process
Walk-in Test Process
