TIFR Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

1. Project Laboratory Assistant (B) [Air Conditioning]

  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) with an aggregate of 60% marks, awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in Air Conditioning, OR
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) with an aggregate of 60% marks, awarded by NCVT in the Air Conditioning trade
  • Desirable: One year of experience in the Air Conditioning trade
  • Selected candidates will be required to work in shift duties

2. Project Scientific Officer (B)

  • Full-time M.Sc./ M.S. (aggregate 60% marks) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related subject in theoretical/ mathematical sciences, OR
  • Full-time B.E./ B.Tech. (aggregate 60% marks) in a relevant subject/ discipline
  • Professional experience related to science communication using online multimedia or web design tools

Job Profile: Assisting faculty, postdocs, and students with scientific presentations and teaching material; maintaining a database of technical talks and teaching materials; creating and maintaining a public outreach portal; engaging with civic society and organizing fundraising-related events; managing and growing TIFR's YouTube channel and social media presence; assisting with writing/ editing of non-technical summaries for annual reports and grant proposals; and coordinating with TIFR's Science Communication Cell.

Desirable qualifications: Full-time ME/ MTech in a related theoretical/ mathematical science discipline; experience with web design, video creation, and AI-based multimedia tools; familiarity with word-processing, photo-editing, video-editing, and content management software; prior experience in science communication/ outreach at a research institute; strong written and verbal English communication skills; background and interest in theoretical sciences relevant to TIFR Colaba; and organisational and teamwork skills.

3 & 4. Project Clerk (A) - Two Posts

  • Graduate from a recognised University/ Institute with an aggregate of 50% marks
  • Knowledge of typing
  • Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications, supported by certificates from government-recognised institutions
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in clerical duties and correspondence in a large, reputed organization

Job Profile (Post 3): Inventory management, documentation and records, storekeeping, clerical support, and digitalisation of records.

Desirable (Post 3): Graduation in any field with basic knowledge of storekeeping procedures.

Desirable (Post 4): Prior experience as a Clerk or in a similar position in Government/ Semi-Government/ Autonomous Bodies/ PSUs; proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and data-based management, supported by a certificate from a government-recognised institution.

5. Project Work Assistant

  • S.S.C. or equivalent (Central/ State Board examinations)
  • Minimum one year of experience

Desirable: Experience as multi-tasking staff (MTS) or similar work in Government/ Semi-Government/ Autonomous Bodies/ PSUs; prior knowledge of event management or on-site logistics arrangements.

Role & Responsibilities: Working under the supervision of the PRO/ AO (B); coordinating with BMC, PWD, Mumbai Fire Brigade, MTNL, and Commissioner of Police officials for necessary clearances and licence renewal of the Homi Bhabha Auditorium; logistic arrangements for conferences, public lectures, VIP visits, and educational visits.
