Qualification for Trauma & Emergency (marked #)
For the Trauma & Emergency department, the accepted qualifications are: MD in Emergency Medicine, or MD in General Medicine, or MS in General Surgery, or MD in Anaesthesiology, or MD in Respiratory Medicine, or MS in Orthopaedics, or a recognised qualification equivalent thereto.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Applicant must be an Indian National.
- Only candidates who have already been declared successful in their qualifying degree exam, and will complete their tenure for the same on or before the closing date of application, are eligible.
- If the result of the qualifying exam is declared after the closing date, the candidature stands automatically cancelled.
- Candidates should not have completed 3 years of Senior Residency under the Residency Scheme in any Government medical institution (regular, ad-hoc or contract basis); any Senior Residency already completed is reduced from the 3-year tenure being offered.
- Candidates already in Central/State Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous Institution service must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.

AIIMS Nagpur Senior Resident Recruitment 2026 Salary
Selected Senior Residents will be placed at Level 11, Cell No. 01, as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), which corresponds to a pay of Rs. 67,700/- per month, plus usual allowances including Non-Practising Allowance (NPA), if applicable. As per the terms and conditions, appointees are not entitled to Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance Treatment, Seniority, Promotion, or other benefits admissible to regularly appointed Government servants.
AIIMS Nagpur Senior Resident Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
Selection is made purely on the basis of an interview conducted at AIIMS Nagpur. Key points on the selection process, as given in the notification:
- The date of interview will be notified separately on the AIIMS Nagpur website.
- If a large number of applications are received, shortlisting for the interview will be done based on qualification, additional qualification, experience, etc., or through a written test.
- The interview may spill over to the next day; candidates should be prepared to be available on the following day if necessary.

OBC Category
- Since the vacancies are advertised in financial year 2026-2027, only a valid OBC-NCL certificate issued during the period 01.04.2026 to 31.03.2027 will be considered valid. Certificates issued outside this period will not be accepted.
- The certificate must be in the format prescribed by DoP&T vide O.M. No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res.) dated 30.05.2014, as further clarified by DoP&T OM No. 36036/2/2013-Estt(Res-I) dated 31.03.2016.
- The certificate must be valid for employment in Central Government Institutions, and the sub-caste must match entries in the Central List of OBC. The certificate must clearly show that the applicant does not belong to the Creamy Layer.
EWS Category
- EWS vacancies are as per DoPT OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt (Res), dated 31.01.2019.
- Applications under EWS category require submission of an Income and Assets Certificate in the prescribed format, subject to verification by the issuing authority. The crucial date for this certificate is the closing date for receipt of application.
Tenure and Key Terms & Conditions
- The post of Senior Resident is a tenure post under the Government of India Residency Scheme, for a maximum duration of 3 years.
- The initial appointment is for a period of 1 year, extendable up to a maximum of 3 years, subject to approval of the Competent Authority and satisfactory performance.
- If a candidate has already served as Senior Resident in any Government medical institution (regular, ad-hoc or contract basis), that duration will be reduced from the 3-year tenure offered.
- The appointment can be terminated at any time, on either side, by giving one month's notice or one month's salary in lieu, without assigning any reason, or on failure to complete the first three months to the satisfaction of the competent authority.
- Appointees must be on whole-time appointment with AIIMS and cannot accept any other paid or unpaid assignment, or engage in private practice during the contract period.
- If an appointee resigns within the first 3 months of joining, no NOC, Relieving Letter, or Experience Certificate will be issued.
- Appointees are not entitled to Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance Treatment, Seniority, Promotion, or other regular-employee benefits.
- Vacancies arising from non-filling or resignation may be filled subsequently through a rolling advertisement.
- All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Court of Law at Nagpur.
