BMC Laboratory Assistant 2025 Vacancy Details

The notification invites applications for 1 post of Prayogshala Sahayak (Laboratory Assistant) in the establishment of Seth A.J.B. Municipal Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital under Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. This is an “Ekaki” (single) post in Group ‘C’, and as per circular MBC/1259 dated 13.04.2004 (Amendment 8, clause 3(1)(gha)), reservation does not apply to this isolated post.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

• The candidate must be a B.Sc. (Science) graduate in a subject as specified (ravidnyan shakhichi B.Sc.) from a recognized institution.
• He/She must be working as Laboratory Attendant (Prayogshala Parichar) in the establishments of:
  – Major Municipal Hospitals,
  – New & Medical Colleges,
  – Public Health Departments,
  – Pr. V.A. (Kha.Pra.Ma.A.Se.) and Pr. V.A. (Rav.Ru.) as specified in the notification.
• For B.Sc. degree holders – at least 1 year of service as Laboratory Attendant is required.
  Otherwise (if not B.Sc. Science branch as above) – 2 years of service as Laboratory Attendant is required, as per approved rules.
• Candidates must pass the departmental Vyavsay Chachani (Trade Test) conducted for the post of Prayogshala Sahayak.
• Computer qualification: Candidate must possess DOEACC Society’s CCC / O Level / A Level / B Level / C Level certificate OR Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education MS-CIT OR GE.C.T. certificate OR any other government-approved course in computer handling/usage of at least 2 years as per Government orders.
• Language: Candidate must have passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent with Marathi (50 marks question paper) as higher/lower level, and must be able to read, write and speak Marathi. Note: Those appointed before 06.11.2009 must be able to read, write and speak Marathi even without SSC language paper condition as per note.

2. Experience

• Service in the cadre of Laboratory Attendant (Prayogshala Parichar) in the concerned BMC establishments as per the approved note:
  – 1 year post for B.Sc. Science branch degree holders, OR
  – 2 years for others as Laboratory Attendant.
• Experience must be duly verified from the service record and certified by the concerned department head and service record officer.

3. Disability Criteria (Divyang Reservation Matrix)

• The notification includes a Divyang post suitability table mentioning physical requirements such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, finger manipulation, reading/writing, seeing, hearing and communication, and Divyang categories like Deaf/Hard of Hearing, One Arm/One Leg/Both Legs, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness and Multiple Disabilities.
• It clarifies that Divyang candidates who can perform the duties of Laboratory Assistant (test sample handling, record-keeping, coordinating laboratory work and assisting laboratory technologists) as per the specified physical criteria may apply. However, this is an isolated post and reservation benefit does not apply; Divyang candidates will be considered as general if otherwise eligible.

Selection Process

• The selection will be based on a Vyavsay Chachani (Trade Test), which is only a qualifying test.
• Applications received through proper channel will be scrutinized, and eligible candidates will be called for Trade Test as per departmental schedule.
• Candidates who qualify the Trade Test will be placed before a Selection Committee, which will consider:
  – Confidential Reports (Gopaniya Ahwal) of last 5 years,
  – Service record, inquiry reports and other documents,
  – Seniority in service (Sevajyeshtha) determined from date of entry into service and cadre as per circular MPM/03/2781 dated 07.04.2010 and related instructions.
• Final selection will be made strictly on service seniority amongst Trade Test qualified candidates, and appointment orders will be issued as per committee’s recommendations.
• If two or more candidates have the same date of entry and equal seniority, tie-breaking will be done by:
  – Giving preference to the candidate senior in age (higher date of birth priority),
  – If date of birth is also same, preference will be decided on the alphabetical order of the initial letter of the surname.

Application Fee

• No application fee has been mentioned in the notification for the post of Prayogshala Sahayak.

How To Apply

• Only eligible in-service BMC employees working as Laboratory Attendant in specified hospitals/colleges/departments may apply in the prescribed departmental format attached with the notification.
• Applications must be filled legibly in Marathi with the candidate’s own handwriting and signed clearly.
• Candidates must route their applications through their concerned department/ward head and Service Record Officer (Seva-abhilekh) as per rules.
• Service details must be verified and certified; the application should bear the inward/outward number of the department and be forwarded to:

• Applications must reach the office from 22.12.2025 to 09.01.2026 during working hours only.
• Applications received before or after this period, applications sent by Speed Post, ordinary post, tapal or courier directly, incomplete applications, applications not as per prescribed format, or without the employee’s signature will not be accepted.
• Candidates must attach the following attested documents with their application:
  – Service verification in prescribed Form-B (two copies),
  – Inquiry certificates based on service record and SAP system,
  – Confidential reports of last 5 years,
  – Caste certificate & Caste Validity Certificate where applicable,
  – Non-Creamy Layer certificate/validity as applicable,
  – Pay slips/pay fixation order & Municipal ID card,
  – Initial appointment order in BMC service,
  – Marriage registration and Gazette notification for name change (if applicable),
  – SSC or equivalent marksheet and certificate for those appointed after 2009 to prove Marathi language qualification,
  – Computer qualification certificates (DOEACC/MS-CIT/GECT/other approved).
• Original certificates must be produced at the time of document verification; absence of originals will render the candidate ineligible for Trade Test and selection.

Important Dates

Salary/Stipend

• The post of Prayogshala Sahayak is in revised pay scale M-13, Rs. 21,700 – 69,000/- as sanctioned by BMC orders.
• Other allowances and benefits will be admissible as per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation service rules and applicable government norms for Group ‘C’ posts.

Instructions

• This recruitment is strictly departmental and limited to in-service BMC staff working as Laboratory Attendant in specified health establishments.
• Backward category employees who have already availed reservation earlier or are shown as “adhik sankhya” (excess) or whose category change is under process must submit valid Caste and Caste Validity Certificates along with Non-Creamy Layer certificates as applicable; otherwise, their applications will not be considered.
• All eligible candidates (including backward category) will be considered in general merit list for this isolated post; reservation is not applicable, but category must be correctly mentioned for record purposes.
• Candidates appointed in Group ‘D’ and later promoted to Group ‘C’ posts must pass compulsory computer examination within 2 years from appointment; otherwise, they may be reverted to original post as per circular MPM/2/3221 dated 14.11.2014.
• Candidates under departmental inquiry, preliminary inquiry, or suspension will not be considered for appointment until such proceedings are cleared.
• Selected candidates for Prayogshala Sahayak must submit an application within 2 years from selection date for reversion to original post in case they do not wish to continue; otherwise, their rights to original post will lapse.
• Applications received under this recruitment process will be considered only for this selection; future vacancies will require fresh recruitment/notification.
• Waiting list (Pratiksha Yadi), if prepared, will remain valid for 2 years; after that, it will lapse automatically.
• The administration reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.
• All department/establishment heads must display this notification prominently on office notice boards and give it wide publicity among eligible staff.
