Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: High Second Class (at least 55%) in Post-Graduation in History or Economics or Social Sciences (such as Anthropology, Geography, Philosophy, Political Science & International Relations, Psychology, Sociology) from a recognized university is compulsory.
- Desirable Qualification: Preference of 10 marks in interview for candidates having at least two years of research work experience from a university or Government or Government-recognized Social Research Institute.
- Experience: At least two years of research work experience (must be obtained by the advertisement publication date 27 January 2026). Experience certificate issued by Registrar/Deputy Registrar of recognized university or Director level of recognized Social Research Institute.

- Pay Band: 9300-34800
- Grade Pay: 4600

Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 37 years for Unreserved (Male)
- Maximum Age: 40 years for Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class (Male & Female) and Unreserved Female
- Maximum Age: 42 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Male & Female)
- Relaxations: As per Bihar Government rules for Government servants (5 years), Divyang (10 years), Ex-Servicemen (3 years + service period, max 57 years), etc.

- Preliminary Competitive Examination (Objective General Studies - 150 marks, 2 hours)
- Main Competitive Examination (General Hindi & General English - Qualifying 40 marks each, General Studies Paper-1 & 2 - 300 marks each, Optional Subject - 300 marks)
- Interview - 110 marks + 10 marks preference for research experience (Total 120 marks)
