How to Prepare According to the CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern 2026-27?

Students preparing for the 2027 CBSE Class 12 examinations should use the published curriculum and sample papers to understand their subject's requirements.

  • Check the latest subject-wise syllabus and prescribed topics.
  • Understand the unit-wise marks distribution where it is provided.
  • Practise MCQs, case-based questions and written answers included in the official pattern.
  • Solve the CBSE sample paper within the specified examination duration.
  • Compare answers with the official marking scheme to understand how marks are awarded.
  • Prepare the practical, project or internal assessment components required for the subject.
  • Revise topics in which mistakes are identified during sample paper practice.

Important Instructions

  1. Competency-based questions carry about 50% weightage. Half of the question paper is competency-based, which can be MCQs, case-based or source-based questions. Before that, the 2024 Class 12 papers had only 40% competency-based questions.
  2. Understanding matters more than memorising. Questions test application and analytical thinking, so practise case studies, assertion-reason and source-based questions along with the usual long answers.
  3. Marks split between theory and practical or internal assessment. For example, Physics is a 70-mark theory paper plus a 30-mark practical paper, totalling 100 marks. The split varies by subject, so check each one.
  4. Use the subject-wise blueprint. Chapter-wise marks differ for Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Accountancy. Revise according to the weightage and the latest syllabus.
  5. Two-phase board exams are planned. One source lists two phases of the CBSE board exam for 2026-27. I couldn’t confirm the details, so check the official notice for dates and rules.
