The University of Delhi (DU) has released two separate notifications inviting online applications for faculty positions in nine departments. Vide Advt. No. R&P/321/2026 dated 31 July 2026, DU has invited applications for 56 Associate Professor posts in Academic Pay Level-13A, and vide Advt. No. R&P/322/2026, also dated 31 July 2026, applications are invited for 30 Professor posts in Academic Pay Level-14. Both notifications cover the same nine departments: Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Genetics, Geology, Hindi, Linguistics, Operational Research, Philosophy, and Zoology. The last date for receipt of applications for both posts is 20 August 2026, or two weeks from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News, whichever is later. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the DU website www.du.ac.in under "Jobs and Opportunities" in the "Work with DU" section.
Together, these two notifications amount to 86 total teaching vacancies at the University of Delhi. Eligible candidates must hold a PhD in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline along with the required research score and teaching/research experience, details of which are given below. Selection will be based on a two-stage process: an academic/research score-based screening followed by presentation and interview by a duly-constituted Selection Committee.

DU Associate Professor & Professor Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility requirements differ between the two posts, both requiring a PhD as a mandatory qualification, along with differing levels of teaching/research experience and research score.
DU Associate Professor Qualification
For the disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Sciences, Languages, and Library Science, candidates must fulfil all of the following:
- A good academic record with a PhD Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
- A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade on a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A minimum of eight years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor, in a University, College, or accredited research Institution/Industry, with a minimum of seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
- A total research score of 75, as per the Screening Guidelines annexed to the advertisement.
A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) at the Bachelor's and Master's level is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PwBD (VI and LD categories) candidates, and for PhD degree holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991. Only publications in the UGC-CARE list or SCOPUS-indexed journals are considered, subject to the UGC-CARE list's discontinuation cut-off of 11 February 2025.
DU Professor Qualification
For the same set of disciplines, candidates must fulfil either of the following:
- Option A: An eminent scholar holding a PhD Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, actively engaged in research, with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, and a total research score of 120. Candidates must also have a minimum of ten years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in a University/College, and/or equivalent research experience at University/National-level Institutions, with evidence of having successfully guided a doctoral candidate.
- Option B: An outstanding professional holding a PhD Degree in the relevant/allied/applied discipline from an academic institution (not covered under Option A) or industry, who has made a significant contribution to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence, with ten years of experience.
As with Associate Professor, only UGC-CARE list or SCOPUS-indexed publications are considered for research score, and the PhD Degree is a mandatory qualification for appointment to the post of Professor.
DU Associate Professor & Professor Salary
Selected Associate Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-13A of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, and selected Professors will be placed in Academic Pay Level-14, both carrying UGC pay scales plus admissible allowances. Discretionary advance increments may be awarded to candidates entering with higher merit, a high number of quality research publications, and relevant experience, at the discretion of the competent University authority based on Selection Committee recommendations.

Payment must be made online only, through credit/debit card or Net Banking. Fees once paid are non-refundable under any circumstances. No fee is charged from applicants who had applied for the same post in the preceding advertisement for the same department (Environmental Studies, Operational Research, Philosophy, and Zoology for Associate Professor; Environmental Studies, Genetics, Philosophy, and Zoology for Professor), provided the interview for that post was not conducted, subject to producing proof of the earlier application. DU Associate Professor & Professor Selection Process
Selection for both posts follows a screening-and-interview process based on Academic/Research Score:
- The Screening Committee prepares a list of all candidates in descending order of research score.
- Candidates must meet the minimum required research score - 75 for Associate Professor, 120 for Professor - calculated based on research papers, publications, ICT/e-content contributions, research guidance, patents, policy documents, awards/fellowships, and invited lectures, as per the detailed scoring matrix in the Screening Guidelines.
- A minimum of 30 candidates for the first vacancy, and 10 candidates for every additional vacancy in each category, are called for interview, based on rank in the screening list. All candidates scoring equal to the cut-off for a category are also shortlisted.
- Shortlisted candidates are assessed through a presentation, graded A (Excellent), B (Good), C (Average), or D (Poor) by a Presentation Assessment Committee. This assessment is indicative only and not binding on the Selection Committee.
- The duly-constituted Selection Committee makes the final selection decision, which is final and binding.
Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualification or eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Publications "under submission" or submitted to referees are not considered for scoring, and research score is calculated only from a minimum of three out of six specified categories.

Applicants seeking reservation benefits under SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/PwBD categories must upload the necessary category certificates in the Government-prescribed, digitally verifiable format, of the current financial year where applicable. PwBD candidates must have a disability of not less than 40% and must upload a valid Disability Certificate. Shortlisted candidates called for interview must bring original testimonials/certificates along with valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport), plus self-attested photocopies of qualification, experience, and category documents. Candidates serving in Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) with vigilance clearance from their employer, either with the application or at the time of interview.
