Eligibility Criteria
Junior Pharmacist, Class-3
Candidate must be an Indian citizen or possess nationality as per Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Must possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) obtained from a University established by or under a Central or State Act in India, or from an educational institution recognized as or deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956; OR
A Diploma in Pharmacy obtained from a University established by or under a Central or State Act in India or from an institution recognized as or deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, with about two years’ experience as a Junior Pharmacist in Government, Government Undertaking or Board, or as a Dispenser in hospitals/dispensaries, or as a Pharmacist or Medical Representative of a pharmaceutical company established under the Companies Act, 2013.
Must possess basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification (General) Rules, 1967.
Must possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
The candidate selected by direct recruitment is required to be registered with Gujarat State Pharmacy Council under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 at the time of appointment, if not already registered.
Salary/Stipend
For the first five years, appointment will be on fixed pay of Rs. 40,800 per month as per Finance Department resolutions dated 16/02/2006, 29/04/2010, 06/10/2011, 20/10/2014, 20/10/2015, 18/01/2017 and 18/10/2023.
After completion of five years, subject to satisfactory service and as per applicable resolutions, the candidate will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 (Level-5) of the 7th Pay Commission in the concerned office.
The above is subject to the outcome of Hon’ble Supreme Court cases SLP No.14124/2012 and SLP No.14125/2012.
Age Limit (as on 30/12/2025)
Minimum age: 18 years (candidate must not be less than 18 years on 30/12/2025).
Maximum age: 35 years (candidate must not have completed 35 years on 30/12/2025), subject to relaxations as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Category-wise upper age relaxations:
General category female candidates: 5 years.
Reserved category male candidates: 5 years.

Application Fee
As per General Administration Department letter dated 31/01/2024, the examination fee structure is:
Preliminary examination fee for Unreserved category candidates: Rs. 500/-.
Preliminary examination fee for all reserved category candidates (all women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Ex-servicemen): Rs. 400/-.
The fees paid shall be refunded to those candidates who appear in the examination.
All candidates must pay the examination fee only through online mode after submitting application and obtaining confirmation number, up to 02/01/2026 (23:59 hours).
Online payment options: Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets via OJAS website.
In addition to examination fee, candidates must bear applicable transaction charges as per norms.
Fee will not be accepted after the last date under any circumstances and fee once paid will not be refunded, including in case of rejection of application.
Applications without payment of prescribed fee will be treated as invalid and will be rejected without any separate intimation.

Selection Process
Selection will be through competitive examination in one stage consisting of objective MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) type questions
The examination will be conducted through CBRT/OMR (Computer Based Response Test/Optical Mark Recognition) method
The examination will consist of one question paper with two parts: Part-A and Part-B
Part-A: Contains 90 questions covering:
Logical Tests and Data Interpretation: 30 marks
Mathematical Tests: 30 marks
Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, Gujarati and English Comprehension: 30 marks
Part-B: Contains 120 questions on subject related topics and their application (120 marks)
Total Questions: 210 (Part-A: 90 + Part-B: 120)
Total Time: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts combined
Negative Marking: 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer
The level of question paper will be equivalent to the educational qualification prescribed
Provisional Answer Key will be published after the examination
Final Answer Key will be published after considering objections received from candidates
If any question is cancelled in the Final Answer Key, marks for cancelled questions will be calculated on Pro-Rata basis among remaining questions
