Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen or possess nationality as per Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
  • Must possess:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) obtained from a University established by or under a Central or State Act in India, or from an educational institution recognized as or deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956; OR
    • A Diploma in Pharmacy obtained from a University established by or under a Central or State Act in India or from an institution recognized as or deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, with about two years’ experience as a Junior Pharmacist in Government, Government Undertaking or Board, or as a Dispenser in hospitals/dispensaries, or as a Pharmacist or Medical Representative of a pharmaceutical company established under the Companies Act, 2013.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification (General) Rules, 1967.
  • Must possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
  • The candidate selected by direct recruitment is required to be registered with Gujarat State Pharmacy Council under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 at the time of appointment, if not already registered.

Salary/Stipend

  • For the first five years, appointment will be on fixed pay of Rs. 40,800 per month as per Finance Department resolutions dated 16/02/2006, 29/04/2010, 06/10/2011, 20/10/2014, 20/10/2015, 18/01/2017 and 18/10/2023.
  • After completion of five years, subject to satisfactory service and as per applicable resolutions, the candidate will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 (Level-5) of the 7th Pay Commission in the concerned office.
  • The above is subject to the outcome of Hon’ble Supreme Court cases SLP No.14124/2012 and SLP No.14125/2012.

Age Limit (as on 30-12-2025)

  • Minimum age: 18 years (candidate must not be less than 18 years on 30/12/2025).
  • Maximum age: 35 years (candidate must not have completed 35 years on 30/12/2025), subject to relaxations as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
  • Category-wise upper age relaxations:
    • General category female candidates: 5 years.
    • Reserved category male candidates: 5 years.
    • Reserved category female candidates: 10 years (subject to maximum 45 years).
    • General category PwD male candidates: 10 years (subject to maximum 45 years).
    • General category PwD female candidates: 15 years (subject to maximum 45 years).
    • Reserved category PwD male candidates: 15 years (subject to maximum 45 years).
    • Reserved category PwD female candidates: 20 years (subject to maximum 45 years).
    • Ex-servicemen: Relaxation in upper age equal to length of service rendered in armed forces plus three years, as per rules.

Application Fee

  • As per General Administration Department letter dated 31/01/2024, the examination fee structure is:
    • Preliminary examination fee for Unreserved category candidates: Rs. 500/-.
    • Preliminary examination fee for all reserved category candidates (all women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Ex-servicemen): Rs. 400/-.
  • The fees paid shall be refunded to those candidates who appear in the examination.
  • All candidates must pay the examination fee only through online mode after submitting application and obtaining confirmation number, up to 02/01/2026 (23:59 hours).
  • Online payment options: Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets via OJAS website.
  • In addition to examination fee, candidates must bear applicable transaction charges as per norms.
  • Fee will not be accepted after the last date under any circumstances and fee once paid will not be refunded, including in case of rejection of application.
  • Applications without payment of prescribed fee will be treated as invalid and will be rejected without any separate intimation.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be through a single-stage competitive examination of MCQ type using CBRT/OMR method as per General Administration Department resolution dated 08/11/2023.
  • The examination will consist of two parts:
    • Part-A (Total 60 marks):
      - Mental Ability Test and Data Interpretation – 30 marks
      - Quantitative Aptitude – 30 marks
    • Part-B (Total 150 marks):
      - Constitution of India, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension – 30 marks
      - Questions related to the concerned subject and its applicability – 120 marks
  • Total questions: 210 (60 in Part-A and 150 in Part-B); total duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts together.
  • Negative marking: For each wrong answer, 1/4 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
  • Provisional Answer Key will be published and objections will be invited; Final Answer Key will be prepared after considering objections.
  • If any question is cancelled in the Final Answer Key, its marks will be distributed on a pro-rata basis over remaining questions.
  • Minimum qualifying standard: 40% separately in Part-A and 40% separately in Part-B for all categories; this minimum cannot be reduced below 40% for any category.
  • After declaration of provisional result, approximately twice the number of candidates against category-wise vacancies will be called for certificate verification based on merit.
  • Final selection list and waiting list (if applicable) will be prepared category-wise on the basis of marks obtained and as per applicable Government resolutions.
  • Recommendation for appointment will be sent to the concerned Government department; appointment will be subject to satisfaction of the appointing authority regarding suitability, verification of certificates, training and examination, and other service rules.

General Information/Instructions

  • All instructions regarding recruitment will be published on the Board’s website https://gsssb.gujarat.gov.in and candidates must check the website periodically.
  • Candidates must keep original certificates of educational qualification, age, school leaving certificate, category (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS), PwD, Ex-serviceman and other eligibility proofs with them while filling online application, and must enter details strictly as per these certificates.
  • Any incorrect information in the application may lead to rejection of candidature at any stage.
  • Reservation is applicable only to candidates belonging to reserved categories of Gujarat State as per rules.
  • Women reservation is provided as per General Administration Department notification dated 11/11/2014; if suitable women candidates are not available, such posts will be filled from male candidates of the respective category.
  • PwD candidates’ reservation for this cadre will be notified separately through a special recruitment drive; hence PwD reservation is not reflected in this advertisement, though eligible PwD candidates may apply as per admissible disability types mentioned.
  • SEBC candidates must produce valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate in prescribed format for financial year 2022-23/2023-24/2024-25, obtained between 01/04/2023 and 30/12/2025, or valid certificate as per Government of India format where applicable.
  • EWS candidates must produce valid EWS certificate as per Annexure-KH / prescribed format issued between 31/12/2022 and 30/12/2025, or valid Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2024-25 within the specified period.
  • PwD candidates shall be given age relaxation and facilities like scribe/compensatory time as per Government notifications and The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, subject to submission of prescribed certificates and forms within the stipulated time.
  • Ex-servicemen will get 10% reservation and age relaxation as per Government rules; if suitable Ex-servicemen are not available, such seats will be filled from candidates of the respective categories.
  • Widow female candidates and eligible sportspersons will get additional marks/relaxations as per relevant Government resolutions, subject to production of required certificates.
  • Computer knowledge certificate of basic computer course or equivalent qualification as per GAD resolutions is mandatory; those not having such certificate at application stage must produce it before appointment, failing which appointment will not be granted.
  • Candidates having foreign university degrees must produce equivalence/recognition certificates from UGC or competent authority within the verification timeline.
  • Any attempt to use unfair means, impersonation, fake documents, misrepresentation, or influence on Board officials will lead to disqualification, cancellation of candidature/selection, debarment from future recruitments and legal action including under Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023.

  • Click on “On line Application” and then select “GSSSB”.
  • Click on the advertisement for Junior Pharmacist, Class-III, Advt. No. 329/2025-26 and then click “Apply”.
  • On the screen, options “More Details” and “Apply Now” will appear; read the detailed advertisement by clicking on “More Details”.
  • Click “Apply Now” to open the application form; first fill “Personal Details” carefully (all fields marked with * are mandatory).
  • After personal details, fill “Educational Details”.
  • In the “Assurance” (Declaration) section, accept the conditions by selecting “Yes” and click “Save”. After saving, an “Application Number” will be generated; note and keep it safely.
  • Upload recent passport-size photograph and signature in JPG format as per given dimensions and size (Photo: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width; Signature: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width; maximum size 15 KB), using the “Upload Photograph” option with Application Number and Date of Birth.
  • After uploading photo and signature, go to “Confirm Application”, enter Application Number and Date of Birth, verify all details and then confirm the application. After confirmation, no changes will be allowed.
  • On confirmation, a “Confirmation Number” will be generated; note and keep it safely as it will be required for all further processes including fee payment and admit card download.
  • Click “Print Application”, select Job/Advertisement number, enter Confirmation Number and Date of Birth, and take a printout of the application form for future reference; candidates should retain this printout till completion of recruitment process.
