A total of 17 Assistant Professor posts have been announced across 8 Departments/Institutes. These are distributed category-wise under ST, SC, SEBC, EWS, UR, and PWD (horizontal reservation). Posts marked with * are subject to approval of the Government of Gujarat. Posts marked with F indicate Female Reservation. HNGU Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of receiving the online application (15-06-2026). Knowledge of Gujarati is essential. Qualifications, Pay Scale, and Terms & Conditions of employment will be as per State Government norms / University norms / UGC norms / COA norms. HNGU Recruitment 2026 - Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Professor

Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Management

As per UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2018, and its amendments from time to time:

Option A:

• Master's degree with 55% marks (without grace marks or rounding off), in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• PLUS: NET conducted by UGC/CSIR, or SLET/SET, or Ph.D. awarded as per UGC Minimum Standards Regulations (2009 or 2016).
• Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfillment of conditions: Ph.D. awarded in regular mode, thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners, open viva voce conducted, two research papers published (at least one in a refereed journal), and at least two papers presented at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-funded conferences.

Option B:

• Ph.D. degree from a foreign university/institution ranked among the Top 500 in World University Rankings by QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) at any time.

Marks Relaxation:

• 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) at Master's level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates.
• 5% relaxation (55% to 50%) for Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991.

Faculty of Architecture

As per Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 2020 and amendments:

• B.Arch. with minimum 60% marks and 3 years of relevant professional experience; OR
• B.Arch. + Master's degree in Architecture or allied subjects with minimum 60% marks at either level and 1 year of relevant professional experience.

HNGU Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process

Selection for the post of Assistant Professor will be based on:

Stage 1 - Academic Score Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on Academic Score as per Appendix II, Table 3A of UGC Regulation 2018, subject to fulfilling all essential eligibility criteria. Shortlisting ratio is 1:15 (suitable candidates with higher merit); if eligible candidates are fewer than 1:15, all are called for interview.

Stage 2 - Screening Test (wherever necessary): The University may hold a Screening Test for the post of Assistant Professor wherever necessary. Syllabus and schedule of such test will be published on the University website.

Stage 3 - Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview by email only. Candidates must appear at their own cost; no TA/DA will be paid. Call letters for interview will be sent only to short-listed candidates by email.

Note: Academic score (Appendix II, Table 3A) is used only for short-listing purposes. Final selection will be based solely on performance in the interview.
