Eligibility Criteria
- Qualifications: Ph.D. with research work in Statistics/ Biostatistics/ Cryptology/ Econometrics and related areas.
- Desirable: Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their Ph.D. from organisations other than ISI in the last two years.
Salary/Stipend
- A fellowship of range between ₹58000/- to ₹67000/- per month depending upon post doctoral experience.
- He/She will receive the House Rent Allowance as per the norms of the institute if hostel accommodation is not available.
Age Limit (as on 15-12-2025)
- Maximum Age: 35 years
- Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/Women/differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may also be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience.

Selection Process
- Written test in the subject area will be held, if required, to shortlist candidates for the interview depending upon the number of candidates.
- The candidates, who would be shortlisted, need to make an open presentation followed by interaction with the selectors.
General Information/Instructions
- The tenure of appointment will be initially for one year from the date of joining which may be extended later/ terminated earlier, depending on availability of funds for the period beyond 31 March 2026 and performance of the candidate. Based on performance, the term can be up to a maximum of two years.
- The selected candidate will be posted in any of the centres of the Institute.
- At the time of joining, the selected candidate has to produce all relevant documents/testimonials in original for verification and a medical certificate of fitness from the Medical Officer of the Institute.
- The post is filled-up purely on contractual basis & the candidate will have no right to claim for any type of permanent employment under the Indian Statistical Institute or continuation of services in any other project.
- Please note that the Institute does not have residential facilities for contractual staff.
- The Institute reserves the right not to appoint any of the above or more than the advertised number.

- Candidates who had applied against advertisement No.PU/507/ADV/806 dated 13 October 2025 but did not receive an offer will be automatically considered.
