ITAT Recruitment Eligibility Criteria
- Degree of a recognized University or equivalent
- Speed of 120 words per minute (WPM) in English Shorthand
- Working knowledge of computers, with the ability to operate software such as Microsoft Office, Excel or Page-Maker
These educational and other qualifications are common for both the Senior Private Secretary and Private Secretary posts, as per the official notification. Nationality: applicants must be Indian nationals as defined under the Constitution of India or any law made by Parliament to regulate citizenship rights.

ITAT Recruitment Age Limit 2026-27
- For all candidates, age for applying to either post shall not exceed 35 years.
- Standard age relaxation, as per instructions/orders issued by the Central Government from time to time, is applicable for Government servants and SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the 30th day from the date of publication of the advertisement in "Employment News."
- A separate crucial date consideration applies for candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Lahaul & Spiti district and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, as per the notification.
ITAT Selection Process 2026-27
Recruitment is through a Written Examination, Skill Test, followed by a Personal Interview.
Written Examination and Skill Test Centres
The written examination and skill test will be conducted at 9 stations: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. Candidates must opt for two centres of choice in order of preference. If a sufficient number of candidates is not received for a particular station, ITAT has the sole discretion to cancel that centre, and the candidate will be required to appear at the second centre chosen by them.

Personal Interview
The Personal Interview carries 75 marks. Only candidates shortlisted after the Skill Test will be called for the Personal Interview; the date and venue will be notified later.

The Skill Test will be evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the Written Examination. The overall merit list will be drawn on the basis of combined merit acquired in the Skill Test and the Personal Interview. Both the Written Examination papers and the Skill Test will be conducted in English medium only.
Reimbursement of Travel for SC/ST Government Servants
SC/ST candidates already in service of the Central/State Government, a Central/State Government Corporation, Public Sector Undertaking, Local Government Institute or Panchayat, etc., shall be reimbursed 2nd Class Ordinary/Sleeper Class railway fare or bus fare, on production of tickets as per Government of India guidelines, for appearing in the Skill Test and Personal Interview.
ITAT Recruitment Documents Required
- Matriculation certificate as proof of date of birth
- Graduation Degree Certificate/Graduation Mark Sheets for all semesters/years, along with Provisional Certificate
- Caste certificate in respect of SC/ST, issued by the Competent Authority, wherever applicable
- Latest Non-Creamy Layer certificate in respect of OBC, issued by the Competent Authority, wherever applicable
- Latest Income & Asset Certificate in respect of EWS, issued by the Competent Authority, wherever applicable
- Disability certificate in respect of Persons with Disability (PWD), wherever applicable, indicating nature and percentage of disability, issued by the Competent Authority
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent department, in the format provided with the Vacancy Circular, wherever applicable

ITAT Recruitment Important Instructions 2026-27
- Any physical correspondence, communication or queries from individual candidates regarding the Written Examination, Skill Test, Personal Interview or final result shall NOT be entertained by the office.
- Admit cards, discrepancies in applications, call letters and results will be communicated to candidates through email only, at the address provided in the application; general notifications will also be uploaded on the official ITAT website.
- Selected candidates shall be on probation for a period of 2 years from the date of joining the post.
- Selected candidates shall be liable to be posted at any of the Benches of ITAT across the country.
- All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of courts at Mumbai.
- The decision of ITAT on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, and mode of selection, shall be final; no query or correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

ITAT Recruitment Disqualification Criteria
Applications will be rejected if they are:
- Incomplete
- Not supported by duly self-attested copies of relevant documents in support of age and educational qualifications
- Not accompanied by relevant certificates issued by the Competent Authority regarding caste, non-creamy layer status, disability or EWS category, wherever applicable
- Submitted by applicants against whom any criminal case is pending
The candidature of any candidate found resorting to malpractice or canvassing will be outrightly rejected.
