- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (certificate of eligibility required for categories other than Indian citizens)

Additional age relaxation of 5 years applies to candidates serving in Government Organizations in the same or allied cadre where prior service would be useful for the advertised post. CERT-In Scientist-B Selection Process 2026
- GATE Score Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:5 (discipline-wise and category-wise), based on GATE score merit. All candidates with a tied score at the cut-off rank are shortlisted.
- Document Verification: Conducted before the interaction/interview. Candidates who fail to appear with original documents are not eligible for further stages.
- Personal Interaction/Interview: Maximum 50 marks, assessed on Technical (Academic) knowledge, Presentation/Communication Skill/Comprehension, and Academic performance (0.05 mark per percentage in the qualifying degree).

Important Instructions
