For most of the 26 subjects, the essential qualification is a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject from a university/deemed university established by law in India, together with a B.Ed (Shiksha Snatak) degree from an NCTE-recognised programme. UPESSC Pravakta Reservation Details
Vertical reservation for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories, subject-wise and gender-wise (boys'/girls' schools), is set out in Table-1 of the notification, following the U.P. Public Services (Reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1994, and the U.P. Public Services (Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2020. Horizontal reservation applies as per rules for categories including Ex-servicemen and dependents of freedom fighters, and specified categories of physically disabled candidates (as notified by the government for the Pravakta post). Non-domicile (outside Uttar Pradesh) candidates claiming a reserved category are not eligible for reservation benefits and are treated as General category candidates.

UPESSC Pravakta Selection Process
Selection to Pravakta posts in aided schools (boys'/girls') is made out of a total of 400 marks, comprising a 360-mark written examination (based on 120 objective-type questions) and a 40-mark interview, on the basis of a merit list prepared from the combined score.

Interview
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written examination marks will be called for an interview of 40 marks. Interview date, time, and venue will be communicated at least 10 days in advance via SMS, email, newspaper, and the Commission's website; the interview call letter must be downloaded from the website. Attendance at the interview is compulsory for shortlisted candidates, and no daily allowance or travel allowance is paid for attending the interview.
Merit List and Tie-Breaking
The final merit list is prepared based on the combined written examination and interview marks (400 total). In case of a tie:
- The candidate with higher written examination marks is ranked higher.
- If the tie persists, the candidate with higher interview marks is ranked higher.
- If the tie still persists, the candidate with a higher percentage in postgraduate qualification is ranked higher.
- If the tie still persists, the candidate with a higher percentage in the training qualification (B.Ed/equivalent) is ranked higher.
- If the tie still persists, the older candidate is ranked higher.
Cut-off marks and candidates' scores will be displayed on the website after the selection process is complete. Post-selection, allotment of schools to selected candidates will be carried out by the Director, Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj, based on merit and candidates' preferences.
How to Apply for UPESSC Pravakta Recruitment 2026
UPESSC Pravakta Apply Online
Applications must be submitted online only, through the OTR (One Time Registration) Based Online Application System at upessc.up.gov.in. Applications sent through any other mode will not be accepted. The broad process is:
- One Time Registration (OTR): All candidates must complete OTR before they can proceed to fill the application. User manuals (Hindi and English) and tutorial videos are available on the Commission's website.
- Fill the application: Registration and the application form must be filled in the English language. Enter all details carefully, since category, sub-category, date of birth, and gender cannot be changed after final submission.
- Upload photo and signature: Signature must be scanned on a white background and uploaded in JPG/JPEG format, sized 10 KB–200 KB, with a resolution of 140×110 pixels. Passport-size photo must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format, sized 30 KB–300 KB, with a resolution between 300 and 600 pixels.
- Upload certificates: All certificates/documents must be uploaded in PDF format, sized between 50 KB and 500 KB.
- Pay the fee: Pay the applicable fee as per the Fee section above, via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking.
- Submit and retain copies: After final submission, retain at least three printed copies of the application for future use — two of which, along with the required documents, must be produced in two separate sets at the time of interview.
Candidates may apply for only one subject and one school-type (boys' or girls') combination per application; multiple applications for the same subject/school-type will result in only the last (final) application being accepted, and the rest will be rejected.

UPESSC Pravakta Important Instructions
- The Commission does not provide individual advice on eligibility; candidates should study the notification carefully and apply only when satisfied that they meet all the conditions.
- Uploading a photo/signature that does not meet the prescribed specifications, or not accepting the declaration, will result in rejection of the application.
- Female candidates are eligible to apply for posts in both boys' and girls' schools, but must choose only one school-type per application; only one application per subject and school-type combination is valid.
- Male candidates are generally not eligible for appointment to posts in girls' institutions, except for the Music subject, where this restriction does not apply.
- Blind candidates are generally not eligible for teaching posts, except for the Music subject, where visual impairment does not disqualify a candidate.
- Candidates must be free from any physical defect that could hinder the efficient discharge of duties; before final appointment, selected candidates must produce a fitness certificate from a government hospital or primary health centre medical officer.
- Scribe (Shrutlekhak) facility is available to Divyangjan candidates as per government orders dated 4 December 2019 and 8 September 2022; eligible candidates must register with full details at the Commission office at least one week before the written examination, and will receive 20 minutes of extra time per hour. No travel allowance is paid to the scribe.
- OMR answer sheets must be filled only with a black ball-point pen; use of any other coloured pen, correction fluid ("whitener"), eraser, or similar material will invalidate the OMR sheet.
- Candidates in current employment must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.
- Candidates who are married and have more than one living spouse (or who have married a person who already has a living spouse) will not be considered eligible, unless specifically exempted by the Governor.
