Follow these steps to check and download your merit status:

  1. Visit the official portal: bba2026.mahacet.org.in.
  2. Click on "Check Provisional Merit Status 2026" on the homepage.
  3. Log in using your Application ID and Date of Birth.
  4. View and download the merit list PDF, and check your marks, category, and state/All India rank.

How Merit Rank Is Decided in Case of a Tie

When two or more candidates score identical CET marks, the tie is resolved using the following order of criteria:

  1. Higher percentage of marks in Class 12 / Higher Secondary Examination
  2. Higher percentage of marks in Class 10 / Secondary Examination
  3. Candidate with greater age

How Percentile Is Calculated from Raw CET Marks

The State CET Cell uses a normalized relative-performance formula to convert raw scores into percentiles. A percentile indicates the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below a given candidate's score. As per the official update, a raw score of around 80+ out of 100 has generally translated to a 99.5+ percentile, placing candidates in contention for top-tier institutes. Exact percentile-to-marks conversion for the 2026 cycle has not been separately published and will vary based on the overall candidate performance.

Reservation, Quota & Special Category Rules

Seat Distribution Across Quotas

As per the official update, participating institutes generally reserve 85% of total seats for Maharashtra Domicile State candidates (split between Home University and Other Than Home University quotas), while the remaining 15% are reserved for All India Candidates based on CET or an equivalent recognized national-level score.

All India (AI) Candidates

Candidates from outside Maharashtra holding Indian citizenship are categorised as All India candidates. They compete for the 15% All India quota seats based on their MAH BBA CET score or an equivalent recognized national score.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS)

Under TFWS, up to 5% extra seats are available for economically weaker candidates whose family income is under ₹8 lakh per year. TFWS waives 100% of the college tuition fee. Applicants must upload a valid Income Certificate issued by a competent authority in Maharashtra.

EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Reservation

EWS candidates are eligible for a 10% state reservation quota. To claim this benefit, candidates must hold an EWS eligibility certificate issued by an authorised state authority (such as a Sub-Divisional Officer or Tehsildar) valid for the current financial year.

Category Certificate Requirements (SC/ST/VJ/DT/NT/OBC/SBC/SEBC)

Candidates in these categories who registered using application receipts must present original Caste/Tribe Validity, Non-Creamy Layer (NCL - valid up to March 31, 2027), or EWS eligibility certificates for verification at Scrutiny Centres, and submit them to their allotted college before the final reporting deadline. If original certificates are not produced, the candidate's category automatically converts to Open/General for admission purposes.

Institutional Quota

Beyond the centralized CAP rounds, 20% of seats in private unaided colleges are designated as Institutional Quota seats. Candidates interested in these seats must fill an online Institutional Option Form on the CET portal and submit hard copies directly to the respective colleges.

Gap Certificate for Academic Breaks

Students who took a year's gap after Class 12 (for entrance preparation, health reasons, etc.) must submit an official Gap Affidavit on ₹100 stamp paper, stating the reason for the gap and confirming they were not enrolled in any other degree programme during that period.

Understanding Freeze, Betterment (Float) & Cancel Options in CAP

When offered a seat during any CAP round, candidates must choose one of the following options:

  • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat, pay the acceptance fee, and exit further CAP rounds to confirm admission.
  • Betterment (Float): Secure the current seat by paying the fee, while still participating in the next round for a better preference.
  • Cancel: Reject the allotment entirely and exit the CAP system.

Candidates who receive their 1st preference in CAP Round 1 are automatically "Auto-Freezed" and must accept the seat online; they cannot opt for Betterment in a later round.

Seat Acceptance Fee & Refund Policy

Particular Detail
Seat Acceptance Processing Fee ₹1,000, payable online upon seat allocation
Is the ₹1,000 Fee Refundable? No - it is non-refundable under all circumstances, even on cancellation of admission
Full Fee Refund on Admission Cancellation Available if the candidate cancels a confirmed admission before the official cut-off date; the college refunds tuition and institute fees, retaining a maximum ₹1,000 administrative processing fee (as per Rule 15 of Maharashtra Admission Guidelines)
Last Date to Cancel with Full Refund September 13, 2026

Reporting & Seat Verification Timeline for CAP Round 1

  • Seat acceptance and online self-verification: August 10 - 12, 2026 (up to 3:00 PM). Candidates must verify that their marks, gender, category, and reservation details match their original certificates and report any discrepancy immediately.
