General Information/Instructions
- Background: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is the apex national institution for disaster management in India. The NDMA along with a host of other institutions at the national, state, and district levels, chaired by the Prime Minister, the NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for disaster management and since its inception, NDMA has taken several initiatives and programmes in strengthening preparedness and mitigation, in strengthening disaster response and recovery, and supporting capacity-building activities in the country
- Nature of Job: Individual Consultant will be engaged for a period of 03 months 29 days
- Deliverables: Conduct site visits to selected informal settlements to collect primary data on heat-risk exposure, vulnerabilities and community practices on heat-risk exposure, vulnerability, and community practices; Interact with local stakeholders, community leaders, and households; Administer surveys, checklists, and observational tools; Compile and analyze field data in coordination with NDMA and work closely with knowledge partners, local bodies, and relevant government agencies; Facilitate meetings, consultations, and technical discussions related to the STU detailed case study focusing on heat-risk mitigation in an informal settlement; Identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for scalable models; Prepare drafts of field reports, analytical notes, and technical drafts for the final technical report; Ensure all documentation meets NDMA's quality standards; Field visit reports and analysis sheets; Data compilation and analysis sheets; Case study document; Final consolidated report
- Competencies: Strong skills in data collection, field coordination, and community interaction; Excellent report writing and analytical abilities; Ability to work independently and manage timelines
- Reporting Mechanism: The Consultant will report to the Director (PR&AG)
- Termination of Contract: The engagement of Consultants at NDMA is of a temporary nature without prior notice and without providing any reason for it. However, in the normal course, it will provide one month's notice to the Individual Consultant. The Individual Consultant can also seek the termination of the contract upon giving one month's notice to NDMA. Irrespective of Division, all matter related to this will be handled by Admin Division
