OPSC Interview Marking Scheme and Assessment Pattern

The OPSC Assistant Professor (Stage-I) interview carries a total of 100 marks and is assessed across three key components. Understanding the weightage of each component helps candidates prepare accordingly.

Sl. No. Component Marks
1 Domain Knowledge in the Discipline 50 Marks
2 Pedagogical Skill 30 Marks
3 Academic Performance and Research Orientation 20 Marks
Total 100 Marks

Qualifying Marks for Final Selection

The merit list will be prepared solely based on marks secured in the interview. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifying marks as per their category to be considered for selection. Failing to secure qualifying marks disqualifies a candidate even if posts remain vacant.

  • UR & SEBC: 50 Marks
  • SC & ST: 42 Marks
  • PwD: 38 Marks
  • Sports Persons & Ex-Servicemen: Same as the caste category (UR/SEBC/SC/ST) to which they belong

How the Merit List Will Be Prepared - Tie-Breaking Rules

In cases where two or more candidates score equal marks in the interview, the following tie-breaking rules will be applied in order to determine the final merit ranking.

  1. The candidate with higher marks in Domain Knowledge will be ranked higher.
  2. If still tied, higher marks in Pedagogical Skill will decide the rank.
  3. If still tied, the candidate with a higher score as per Table 3B of Annexure-A of the Advertisement will be ranked higher.
  4. If the tie persists, the older candidate (by date of birth) will be placed higher.

Pedagogical Skill Demo Class - What to Expect

Pedagogical skill is a significant component of the OPSC interview, carrying 30 marks. Candidates should be fully prepared for the demo class component as described below.

  • Candidates may be asked to take a demo class for 7 to 10 minutes on the whiteboard.
  • The topic can be of the candidate's own choice or may be assigned by the Interview Board.
  • A whiteboard will be provided by the Commission for this purpose.
  • Candidates should come fully prepared to present a topic before the interview board.

Documents Required for the OPSC Logic & Philosophy Interview

Note: As the interview is an identity-less process, candidates may mask/erase their name, roll number, or any identifying information from all submitted documents.

Identity-Less Interview Process - How It Works

OPSC follows a transparent, identity-less interview process to ensure fairness. Here's what candidates should know about this system.

  • No personal particulars such as name, roll number, or any identity-revealing information are disclosed to the Interview Board.
  • Each candidate will appear before the board with a randomly generated Code Number.
  • Allotment of the Interview Board is done through a draw of lots in the presence of all candidates.
  • Candidates should mask all identifying details in the documents submitted to the board.

Important Note on Provisional Candidature

Candidates who have been shortlisted should note that their candidature is purely provisional. Being called for the interview does not guarantee selection. Candidature is liable for rejection if any inadequacy or deficiency is found at any stage during or after the selection process. Mere participation in the interview does not reserve any right for selection.
