Eligibility Criteria

Qualification Requirements

For Specialists (O&G, Pulmonary, Medicine, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Critical Care):

• MBBS with PG Diploma / PG Degree / DNB in relevant specialty from a University/Institute
• Doctors must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC)
• Must have valid medical Practitioner license and be enrolled in the State Register or National Register

For Super Specialist (Plastic Surgery):

• MBBS with DM / Mch / DNB (Super Specialty) / DrNB (Super Specialty) in Plastic Surgery from a University/Institute
• Doctors must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC)
• Must have valid medical Practitioner license and be enrolled in the State Register or National Register

For GDMO:

• MBBS from a University/Institute
• Doctors must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC)
• Must have valid medical Practitioner license and be enrolled in the State Register or National Register

For GDMO-OH:

• MBBS with DIH (Diploma in Industrial Health) from a university/institute recognized by MCI in a recognized Medical College / Hospital / Institution
• OR MBBS with Fellowship in Industrial Health
• Must be registered with Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC)
• Must have valid medical Practitioner license and be enrolled in the State Register or National Register

Essential Requirements

• Candidate must be an Indian national possessing requisite qualification from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India / National Medical Commission / State Medical Council
• Doctors who are registered with MCI / NMC / SMC or having valid medical Practitioner license and enrolled in the State Register or National Register are only eligible for engagement
• The Consultants having relevant post qualification work experience shall be given preference

Who Cannot Apply

• Ex-employees of SAIL and non-SAIL ex-employees who have been separated through Voluntary Retirement shall not be considered for engagement
• Ex-employee applicants shall have to provide self-declaration in this regard

Salary/Stipend

Additional Salary Details

• The monthly remuneration rates are applicable for engagement for a minimum 8 hours a day for six days in a week or 48 hours a week
• If engagement is for less than 8 hours per day / 48 hours a week, the rates would be pro-rated accordingly
• The monthly rate shall not exceed the maximum prescribed limit of the respective category
• No claim for extra remuneration/benefit for extra hours beyond normal assigned working hours

Age Limit (as on 20/01/2026)

• Upper Age Limit: 69 years for all positions (Specialists, Super Specialist, GDMO, GDMO-OH)
• Maximum Age for Engagement: The tenure of engagement shall be subject to the upper age limit of 70 years
• Note: Consultants to be engaged should be fit to perform duties
• Age Calculation Date: As on 20/01/2026

Application Fee

• Application Fee: No fees are required to be paid for application for the aforesaid posts
• TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid for attending Walk-in-Interview / selection process

Important Dates

Selection Process

• Selection of the candidates for engagement will be done through walk-in interview
• Walk-in interview to be held at Office of CMO I/C (M&HS), Burnpur Hospital, Burnpur-713325, Dt: Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal
• Interview will be conducted from 10:00 AM onwards
• Reporting time is from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM (registration will close after 10:00 AM)
• In case of large number of candidates, interview may be staggered to the next working day subject to their reporting as per scheduled time
• An advance copy of the application in the prescribed format may also be emailed to [email protected] with subject line "CONSULTANTS (DOCTORS IN MEDICAL DISCIPLINES) AT SAIL, ISP, BURNPUR" latest by 19.01.2026
• Candidates selected for engagement shall be required to join the assignment as indicated in the Offer of Engagement
• A discipline-wise category wise panel will be formed in order of merit (in the ratio of 1:1) which will be operated in case of non-joining of candidates
• The panel will be valid for a period of six months from the date of approval
• All certificates & documents in support of eligibility will be verified only during Walk-in-Interview
• Any candidate who fails to produce required documents will not be allowed to appear in the interview

General Information/Instructions

Tenure of Engagement

• The initial tenure of engagement would be for a period of one year from the date of joining
• Contract can be further extended for a period of one year at the discretion of the Company
• The maximum period for engagement would not be more than three (03) years
• However, there will be no bar on re-engagement
• The performance will be periodically reviewed on annual basis and tenure can be extended subject to satisfactory performance
• The tenure of engagement shall be subject to the upper age limit of 70 years

Working Hours and Leave

• Engagement for a minimum 8 hours a day for six days in a week or 48 hours a week
• Consultants shall be liable to give their services in emergent conditions also or as per requirement even beyond their normal assigned working hours
• Consultants engaged will be eligible to get 10 (ten) days leave in a year subject to prior approval
• Eligible for Maternity leave as per Maternity Benefit Act, 1961

Other Benefits

• Accommodation: Company accommodation (2BHK or equivalent category) may be provided on payment basis, if desired, subject to availability. Rent and other charges for electricity, water etc. will be as applicable for that category. No HRA will be payable
• Communication Facility: Post-paid SIM under CUG and mobile phone expenses as per actuals within monthly ceiling (Rs. 350/- to Rs. 650/- based on qualification)
• Medical Facility: For ex-employees of SAIL, medical benefits as per prevailing rules. In other cases, medical benefits available for self and spouse only at SAIL, ISP Hospital, Burnpur, without any referrals
• Private Practice: Allowed subject to the condition that there shall be no disruption in the working hours assigned

Important Terms & Conditions

• The engagement is purely of temporary nature and shall not create any right for regular appointment on any grounds
• Consultants will not be entitled to any benefits which are not specifically laid out in the scheme / Advertisement
• No PF/Gratuity or any other benefit unless specified shall be payable
• Not eligible for Non-Practicing Allowance
• Income Tax/GST shall be dealt in terms of applicable provisions
• Presidential Directives on reservation will be followed as applicable
• Joining of the candidate is subject to medical fitness
• Engagement can be terminated by giving one month notice by either party
• Engagement can be terminated by the Company forthwith in case of medical unfitness, poor performance, moral turpitude, conviction, insolvency, loss of license, grave misconduct or financial irregularity
• Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be at Asansol

Category Certificate Requirements

• OBC candidates belonging to "CREAMY LAYER" are not entitled for OBC concession and should indicate category as "General"
• OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates required to submit certificate in prescribed format issued in current financial year (2025-26) issued on or after 01/04/2025 and before 31/03/2026
• For EWS candidates, Certificate should be issued on or after 01/04/2025 certifying the income for FY 2024-2025
• Caste certificates should be submitted in the format for appointment to posts under Government of India/Central Government/Public Sector Undertaking

Important Instructions

• No request for change in date of interview and/or change in date of medical examination will be allowed
• SAIL, ISP reserves the sole authority to consider the cases as per its rules and decision shall be final, firm & binding
• SAIL, ISP reserves the right to reject any application or cancel the candidature or the whole process without assigning any reason
• Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage if any information provided is found to be false
• In case of any dispute on interpretation of any part of this advertisement, the decision of the Company shall be final and binding
