Age Limit for UKSSSC Recruitment 2026
Age eligibility is calculated as on a fixed reference date, and several categories receive age relaxation, which is summarised below.

Educational Qualification for UKSSSC 2026 Posts
Eligibility requirements differ slightly for the two posts, mainly in typing and shorthand speed criteria. Both posts require a graduation degree along with computer and language proficiency.
Eligibility for Kanisth Sahayak (Junior Assistant)
- Graduate degree from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
- Good knowledge of Hindi and English languages.
- Good knowledge of Hindi typing with a minimum speed of 25 words per minute on computer. Preference will be given to candidates who can also type in English at a minimum speed of 30 words per minute on computer.
- Adequate knowledge of computer operation.
Eligibility for Stenographer Grade-1/Personal Assistant
- Graduate degree from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
- Good knowledge of Hindi and English languages.
- Minimum 80 words per minute in Hindi shorthand and minimum 25 words per minute in Hindi typing on computer. Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 80 words per minute in English shorthand and a minimum of 35 words per minute in English typing on computer.
- Good knowledge of computer operation.
UKSSSC Exam Pattern and Selection Process 2026
Selection is based purely on a written objective-type competitive examination, conducted offline or online, followed by document/record verification. This section explains the marking scheme and qualifying criteria.
- The written exam will be of 140 marks, of objective multiple-choice type, lasting 2 hours 30 minutes, covering General Knowledge and General Studies.
- A separate typing/shorthand skill test worth 60 marks will also be conducted; the detailed syllabus will be published separately on the UKSSSC website.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for General and OBC category candidates, and 35% for SC/ST category candidates. Candidates scoring below this will be considered unqualified.
- Each question carries 4 answer options; 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer, and 0.25 marks (1/4) are deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Marking more than one option for a question is treated as a wrong answer and attracts negative marking.
- No negative marking applies to unattempted questions.
- The typing/shorthand test is qualifying in nature. If two candidates score equal marks in the written exam and equal marks in Hindi typing/shorthand, preference is given to the one who also qualifies in English typing/shorthand. If a tie still remains, the older candidate is ranked higher in the merit list.

Key conditions to note:
- EWS reservation is available only to candidates not already covered under SC/ST/OBC reservation, and the EWS certificate must be issued between 1 April 2026 and the application closing date (6 July 2026), based on financial year 2025-26 income, and must remain valid for FY 2026-27.
- OBC certificates remain valid for 3 years from the date of issue and must be valid up to the last date of application.
- Reservation benefit under any category is granted only to permanent residents of Uttarakhand and only when claimed in the relevant column of the online application along with a valid supporting certificate.
- If a candidate is eligible for more than one reservation sub-category, only the single most beneficial sub-category will be considered, subject to submission of a valid certificate.
- A scribe (Lekhak) facility is available for benchmark disabled candidates (blindness, locomotor disability affecting both arms, cerebral palsy, and similar conditions) along with 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of examination, subject to submission of the prescribed certificates before the exam.

Interested and eligible candidates can complete the Apply Online process on the official UKSSSC website in five simple steps between 22 June 2026 and 6 July 2026.
- Registration & Personal Details – Register using a unique mobile number and email ID (each can be used only once) and fill in personal details.
- Educational & Other Details – Enter educational qualification, category, district preference, and other required information.
- Upload Photo, Signature & Thumb Impression – Upload the scanned photograph, signature, and left thumb impression as per the specified size.
- Make Payment – Pay the applicable examination fee online via credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
- Print Application – Download and print a copy of the final submitted application for personal record; it does not need to be submitted to the Commission at this stage.
Candidates get a one-time opportunity to edit their online application between 8 July 2026 and 10 July 2026 after the closing date, but corrections to name, parents' name, date of birth, and examination centre will not be permitted. Other Important Eligibility Conditions

- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible for appointment to clerical cadre posts.
- Marital Status: A male candidate with more than one living spouse, or a female candidate who has married a man with a living first wife, is not eligible.

- Character Certificate: Required from the head of the institution last attended and two respectable persons unrelated to the candidate.
