Eligibility Criteria
- A post graduate Medical Degree in the respective discipline from a recognized University/Institute is required for the post of Senior Resident.
- NMC/MCI/MMC/DCI State Registration is mandatory before joining, if selected.
- For super speciality disciplines (marked with ), the essential qualification is MD/MS in specified feeder disciplines such as MS (General Surgery/ENT/Orthopaedics) for Burns & Plastic Surgery; MD (General Medicine/Paediatrics) for Cardiology, Endocrinology, Medical Haematology, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology; MS (General Surgery) for Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatrics Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, Urology; MD (General Medicine) for Medical Gastroenterology; MD (General Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine) for Pulmonary Medicine; and MD (Paediatrics) for Neonatology.
- Candidates with DM/M.Ch in the respective super speciality disciplines may also apply as mentioned in the notification.
- For Trauma & Emergency (#), eligibility includes MD in Emergency Medicine or MD in General Medicine or MS in General Surgery or MD in Anaesthesiology or MD in Respiratory Medicine or MS in Orthopaedics or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.
Salary/Stipend
- Senior Resident is in Group ‘A’ with pay Rs. 67,700/- (Level-11, Cell No. 01 as per 7th CPC) plus usual allowances including NPA (if applicable).
Age Limit (as on 07-01-2026)
- Upper age limit for Senior Resident posts is 45 years as on the closing date 07/01/2026.
- Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates; no age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying for unreserved vacancies.
- For Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, age relaxation is up to 5 years for General, 8 years for OBC and 10 years for SC/ST categories.
- 4% of the total posts are horizontally reserved for PwD candidates with benchmark disability as per Reservation Rules and RPwD Act/DoPT instructions.

- For SC/ST Category: Rs. 250/-.
- Application fee for PwD category is exempted.

Selection Process
- Selection will be made on the basis of interview conducted at AIIMS Nagpur.
- The date of interview will be notified on the AIIMS Nagpur website, and the decision of the Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur in this regard shall be final and binding.
- The interview may be spilled over to the next day; therefore candidates should be prepared to be available for the next day if necessary.
- In case a large number of applications are received, shortlisting of candidates for interview will be done based on qualification, additional qualification, experience etc., or through a written test.
- Offer of appointment will be provisional and subject to verification of educational and personal credentials by the competent authority.
General Information/Instructions
- Age will be counted as on the closing date of receipt of application i.e. 07/01/2026, and age limit refers to completed age in years on that date.
- Vacancies are provisional and subject to variation; the Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur reserves the right to vary vacancies including reserved vacancies as per Government of India rules and requirements.
- Candidates working in Central/State Government/Semi Government/Autonomous Institutions must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of interview.
- Self-attested photocopies of degrees, certificates, mark sheets, age proof, caste certificates etc. must be annexed and originals produced with photocopies for verification at the time of interview.
- Valid NCL-OBC certificate issued between 01.04.2025 and 31.03.2026 in the prescribed format and valid for Central Government employment is mandatory for OBC candidates; OBC certificate must clearly mention non-creamy layer status and match Central OBC List.
- EWS candidates must submit Income and Assets certificate in prescribed format issued by competent authority, with crucial date being the closing date for receipt of application.
- 4% horizontal reservation is applicable for PwD candidates with benchmark disability as per rules; disability certificate must be issued by a duly constituted Medical Board and countersigned by Medical Superintendent, with board comprising consultants from Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Surgery.
- Total Senior Residency period is 3 years; any Senior Residency already completed in any Government medical institution (regular/ad-hoc/contract) will be reduced from the 3-year tenure offered, and applicants should not have completed 3 years Senior Residency under Residency Scheme earlier.
- Canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification; mere possession of prescribed qualifications does not entitle any candidate for selection.
- The appointee will not be entitled to benefits like Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Attendance, Seniority, Promotion etc. available to regular Government servants, and must conform to conduct and discipline rules of the Institute, without engaging in private practice.
- Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected, and the competent authority reserves the right to amend, cancel or change the advertisement wholly or partly without assigning reasons.
- All disputes will be subject to jurisdiction of Courts at Nagpur only.

- In case of any inadvertent mistake in the selection process detected at any stage even after issue of appointment letter, the Institute reserves the right to modify, withdraw or cancel any communication made to the candidate.
