Seat Allotment
As reported, seats are allocated based on a combination of:
- Candidate's AP ECET 2026 rank
- Category (reservation status)
- Gender
- Local area status (AU / SVU region)
- Web options (college and branch preferences submitted by the candidate)
- Real-time seat availability at the time of allotment
Reported reservation structure for the counselling round includes local-area reservation of around 85% of seats, with the remaining roughly 15% treated as unreserved/open. Additional supernumerary lateral-entry seats have also been reported for private and university engineering colleges, but exact college-wise numbers are not available from current reports - check the official seat matrix on the portal for confirmed figures.
After Allotment: Freeze, Float, or Slide - What They Mean
| Option | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Freeze | You accept the allotted seat as final and will not be considered for further upgrades in later rounds. |
| Float | You accept and report to the allotted seat, but remain open to being allotted a better option in a subsequent round. |
| Slide | You keep your current branch/college preference status but remain eligible to be moved to a higher preference within your already-submitted options in later rounds. |
Important Instructions for Candidates
- Completing only the online self-reporting step, or only the physical reporting step, is not sufficient - both are required to confirm your admission.
- Missing either step is reported to result in automatic cancellation of the allotted seat, with no individual-level extension.
- The counselling/processing fee already paid is non-refundable even if you do not report or later withdraw.
- Candidates who are not allotted a seat in Phase 1, or who wish to try for a better option, remain eligible to participate in Phase 2 once its schedule is announced - no fresh registration is required if your Phase 1 registration is already active.
What Happens Next: Phase 2 Counselling
Phase 2 counselling fills seats that remain vacant after Phase 1 reporting closes. Based on how the process has worked in earlier rounds, and as reported for this cycle:
- You are generally eligible for Phase 2 if you were not allotted a seat in Phase 1, or if you completed Phase 1 reporting but want to try for a better option.
- Candidates who did not register at all during Phase 1 are typically not eligible to join in Phase 2.
- Phase 2 allotment uses your previously submitted web options against seats that remain after Phase 1.
- If you are allotted a better option in Phase 2, it automatically replaces your Phase 1 allotment.
