The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (AP SET) is a state-level exam conducted by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on behalf of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It determines the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and Lecturer in universities and degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh. AP SET 2026 is aligned with UGC-NET standards in terms of syllabus, pattern and qualifying criteria. The AP SET 2026 exam will be conducted on 28 and 29 March 2026 in multiple sessions.

AP SET Eligibility Criteria 2026
Educational qualification
- Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (without rounding off) for General/UR candidates.
- For SC/ST/BC/PwD/Transgender categories, a minimum of 50% marks in the Master’s degree is required.
- Candidates appearing in the final year of their postgraduate course (or awaiting results) can also apply, subject to securing the required percentage and submitting proof within prescribed timelines.
Subjects and discipline
- The subject chosen for AP SET must correspond to the subject of the candidate’s post-graduation or a closely related discipline as notified in the subject list.
Reservation and relaxation
- Relaxations in qualifying marks and other conditions are provided as per Andhra Pradesh state government and UGC norms for reserved categories.
AP SET Age limit 2026
- There is no upper age limit for appearing in AP SET 2026. Candidates of any age who meet the educational eligibility criteria can apply and appear for the exam. However, age limits may apply later at the time of recruitment as per specific university or state government service rules.

- Valid email ID and mobile number for registration and communication.
- Scanned passport-size photograph in the prescribed size and format (JPEG/JPG).
- Scanned signature in the required format.
- Postgraduate (Master’s degree) marksheets and certificates (for subject and percentage verification).

Registration
- Click on “AP SET 2026 – Apply Online / Registration”.
- Enter basic details like name, email ID, mobile number and set a password, if separate registration is required.
Fill application form
- Login with credentials and fill in personal details (name, date of birth, gender, category, address, etc.).
- Provide academic details of post-graduation (subject, university, year of passing, percentage).
- Select AP SET subject and preferred exam centre(s) from the given list.
Upload documents
- Upload scanned photograph and signature in the specified dimensions and file size.
