Selection and Seat Allotment Process

Assam ITI admission does not involve any entrance exam. Selection is entirely merit-based, using marks from the qualifying Class 8 or Class 10 examination. The process works as follows:

  1. Candidates register and get their particulars verified by a Government ITI.
  2. A rank list/merit list is generated based on qualifying marks.
  3. Candidates fill and lock their preferred institute and trade choices in order of preference.
  4. Seats are allotted round-wise based on rank, choices filled, and seat availability.
  5. Allotted candidates report to the allotted institute, submit documents, and pay the fee to confirm admission.
  6. Candidates not allotted a seat, or wanting a better option, can revise choices and participate in subsequent rounds.

Two options are typically available to allotted candidates in each round: confirming and reporting to the current seat, or choosing to "float"/continue in later rounds. If a candidate selects the freezing option, they retain their current seat while still remaining eligible to be considered in later rounds. A seat that is allotted but not confirmed within the reporting window is cancelled and forfeited.
