BMC has advertised a combined 80 vacancies across the three posts covered in this recruitment cycle. The category-wise breakup for each post is given in parentheses in the table below.

Additionally, 10% of posts in each category are reserved for Ex-servicemen, and 4% for candidates with physical disabilities (Persons with Disabilities), as per the respective notifications. Within the Sanitary Sub Inspector post, 1 of the 4 posts is earmarked for PwBD (Low Vision); within the MPHW post, 3 of the 75 posts are earmarked for PwBD (across Low Vision; Deaf/Hard of Hearing; and locomotor/other specified disabilities). The Commissioner, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, reserves the unrestricted right to change the number of vacancies shown above.

BMC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility differs by post. Candidates must possess the qualification shown below as on the last date of application, from a university/institution recognised by the Government, along with adequate knowledge of computers and of Gujarati and Hindi (or Gujarati/Hindi, per the specific post).

BMC Recruitment 2026 Salary

All three posts carry an initial fixed/probationary pay period, after which selected candidates move to the regular 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix level applicable to the post, subject to satisfactory service.

BMC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

The application fee is the same across all three posts and must be paid at a post office (with computer facility) using the printed challan generated after submitting the online application.

Reserved-category candidates from states other than Gujarat, who are not entitled to reservation benefits in Gujarat, must pay the fee applicable to the Unreserved category. The fee must be paid by 17 September 2026 (as per the Executive Engineer and Sanitary Sub Inspector notifications); the fee, once paid, is non-refundable under any circumstances, and applications without fee payment will be rejected.

BMC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The base upper age limit differs by post; existing BMC employees are exempt from the upper age limit itself, but subject to an overall maximum of 58 years in all cases.

Age relaxation in the upper age limit, applicable to candidates who are original domicile of Gujarat and belong to reserved categories (including EWS) and to women/disabled candidates, is common across all three posts:

• General category women: 5 years
• Reserved category men: 5 years
• Reserved category women: 10 years
• General category disabled men: 5 years
• General category disabled women: 10 years
• Reserved category disabled men: 10 years
• Reserved category disabled women: 15 years

Ex-servicemen are entitled to age relaxation as per applicable Government rules. In all cases, the age including all applicable relaxations must not exceed 45 years on the closing date of application.

BMC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection for all three posts is through a Written Examination and/or Oral Test (Interview), as decided by the BMC Selection Committee, based on the number of applications received.

• The BMC Selection Committee will decide the appropriate cut-off percentage based on the number of vacancies and applications received, and prepare a merit list; only shortlisted candidates will be issued a call letter for the written exam and/or oral test
• The medium of the written exam will be decided by BMC based on the post's core educational discipline, or Gujarati by default (English-medium for English-subject questions)
• For the Executive Engineer (Civil) post, if both a written exam and oral test are held, the final merit list will weight the written exam at 90% and the oral test at 10%
• For the Sanitary Sub Inspector and MPHW posts, the final merit list will be based on 100% of the result of the written exam/oral test, as conducted
• For the MPHW post specifically, candidates with National/International, Inter-University, or All India School-level representation in specified sports (athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, judo, rifle shooting, kabaddi, kho-kho, archery, horse riding, shot put, boat racing, chess, and handball) are eligible for a 5% bonus on marks obtained in the first-stage competitive written exam, subject to producing the prescribed certificate
• Widowed candidates (for all three posts) get 5% additional marks in the written exam under prevailing Government provisions, subject to conditions specified in the notification regarding remarriage status
• Candidates already in service with BMC or another Government/semi-Government body, if selected, must resign from their existing post before joining; their prior service period will not be regularised or counted
• The provisional merit list/select list remains valid for 2 years, or until the result of the next such examination is declared, whichever is earlier
• The Commissioner, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation's decision on interpretation of the notification and the recruitment process is final and binding on all candidates

BMC accepts applications only through the online mode, via the Gujarat OJAS portal. A separate application (and separate fee) is required for each post/advertisement.

1. Visit http://ojas.gujarat.gov.in and click "Apply Online"
2. Click "More Details" to review the full advertisement, then click "Apply Now"
3. Select the relevant post (Executive Engineer-Civil / Sanitary Sub Inspector / MPHW-Male, Urban Malaria) to view its vacancy details, then click "Apply Now" again to open the Application Format
4. Fill in Personal Details (mobile number and email ID are mandatory for correspondence), Educational Details, Additional Qualification, and Experience Details
5. Complete the Additional Information section and the Self-Declaration (Yes/No), then click "Save" to generate your Application Number
6. Use "Edit Application" to make any corrections before confirming - no changes are possible after confirmation
7. Upload Photo (5 cm height x 3.6 cm width) and Signature (2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width) in .jpg format, each under 15 KB
8. Preview the application, then click "Confirm Application" to generate the Confirmation Number - the application is not valid without this step

BMC Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions

• A candidate must submit a separate application, with the separate applicable fee, for each advertisement/post applied to
• Candidates must hold the qualification shown in the notification as on the last date of application; provisional/pending qualifications are not accepted, and equivalent-qualification claims must be supported with the relevant competent authority's order
• At the time of document verification, candidates must produce original mark sheets (all years/semesters) and self-attested copies from the recognised university/institution, as well as experience certificates; certificates issued by a College Principal are not considered valid
• Candidates must state marks strictly as a percentage in the application form; applications showing CPI/CGPA/SGPA/OGPA/Grade instead of percentage will not be considered
• Reserved-category candidates may apply against unreserved posts, but selection criteria for the unreserved category will then apply to them
• Candidates in regular Government/semi-Government/Corporation service may apply directly online but must inform their department/office within 7 days of applying; if the employer refuses permission more than 30 days after the closing date, the candidature will be rejected
• Candidates who have ever been debarred, or compulsorily retired/dismissed/removed from Government or Government-affiliated service, must disclose this in the application; concealment or an ongoing debarment period will lead to rejection or cancellation of appointment
• A "No Objection Certificate" from the competent authority is required for candidates already in Government/semi-Government service
