- Your allotted institute, academic program, category, and quota will be displayed on the portal.
- Download the "Initial Seat Allotment Intimation Slip," which lists the next steps for seat confirmation.
- Take a printout of the allotment slip and your locked choices for future reference.
Eligibility for CSAB Special Rounds 2026
Candidates must have qualified JEE (Main) 2026 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), or Paper 2B (B.Planning) and meet the Class XII eligibility criteria. Broadly, the following categories of candidates are eligible to participate:
- Candidates who did not register in JoSAA 2026 but are otherwise eligible.
- Candidates who participated in JoSAA 2026 but were not allotted any seat.
- Candidates whose JoSAA seat was cancelled due to non-payment of Seat Acceptance Fee.
- Candidates who validly exercised the "Exit" option during JoSAA 2026.
- Candidates who secured a seat in an IIT through JoSAA and it was cancelled, withdrawn, or they have taken admission there.
- Candidates who already secured admission in the NIT+ System via JoSAA by paying the Partial Admission Fee (they can retain that seat while also trying to upgrade through CSAB Special Rounds).
- Candidates who withdrew an allotted NIT+ System seat during JoSAA 2026.
Educational Qualification (Class XII Criteria)
Candidates must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2024, 2025, or 2026 and satisfy at least one of the following:
- Minimum 75% aggregate marks in five subjects in the Class XII board exam (65% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates), OR
- Rank within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII board.
Foreign nationals and OCI/PIO candidates are governed by separate DASA (UG) 2026 eligibility rules detailed in the DASA Information Brochure on csab.nic.in.
CSAB Special Round Fee Structure 2026
There are two separate fee components in the CSAB Special Rounds process: the registration-stage Special Round Enrolment Fee (SREF) and the post-allotment Institute Admission Fee-II (IAF-II).
| Fee Type | GEN / GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL | SC / ST / PwD |
|---|---|---|
| Special Round Enrolment Fee (SREF) - includes IAF-I + non-refundable ₹5,000 processing fee | ₹40,000 | ₹19,000 |
| Institute Admission Fee-II (IAF-II), payable after seat allotment | ₹35,000 | ₹16,000 |
Candidates who already paid the Seat Acceptance Fee during JoSAA 2026 have that amount adjusted against the SREF and need to pay only the balance. Candidates who already secured a seat in JoSAA by paying the Partial Admission Fee (Type-6 candidates) are not required to pay IAF-II again. Payment of IAF-II is mandatory regardless of whether the candidate selects Freeze, Slide, or Float - non-payment within the deadline is treated as rejection of the allotted seat.
Willingness Options After Allotment
Once a seat is allotted, candidates must exercise one of the following willingness options within the reporting window. Not choosing any option is treated as rejection of the offered seat.
| Option | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Freeze | Accept the allotted seat and exit the seat allocation process; considered final. |
| Float | Accept the current seat but remain open to any higher-preference seat in any institute in later rounds. |
| Slide | Accept the current seat but remain open only to a higher-preference program within the same institute. |
| Surrender | Reject the current seat and continue in the next round for a higher preference (not available in the last round). |
| Withdraw | Reject the seat entirely and exit the process (available only in Special Round-I). |
| Exit | Available only to candidates who received no seat in Round-I; opts them out of further rounds. |
How to Apply / Complete Online Reporting
Registration for CSAB Special Rounds 2026 has already closed (it ran from July 28 to August 3, 2026). Candidates who have now received a seat allotment must complete the following steps within the reporting window:
- Log in to csab.nic.in with your JEE (Main) 2026 credentials and check your allotted institute, program, and category.
- Exercise a willingness option - Freeze, Slide, Float, Surrender, Withdraw, or Exit - as applicable.
- Upload the required documents (not needed if already verified during JoSAA 2026 Rounds 1- 5).
- Pay the Institute Admission Fee-II (IAF-II) online through the CSAB portal.
- Track the document verification status on the portal and respond promptly to any queries raised by the verifying officer.
- After Special Round-II concludes, report physically at the allotted institute with original documents and pay any balance institute fee, as instructed on the institute's website.
Important Instructions
- CSAB Special Rounds require fresh choice filling; choices filled during JoSAA 2026 are null and void for this process.
- Failure to pay IAF-II within the given deadline is treated as rejection of the allotted seat, and the candidate cannot participate in the subsequent round.
- Once "Freeze" is exercised, it cannot be changed to Float, Slide, or Surrender in later rounds.
- In the last round of allotment, all offered seats are automatically treated as accepted under the "Freeze" option.
- Candidates are strongly cautioned against look-alike or unofficial websites; csab.nic.in is the only official CSAB portal.
- No extensions are granted for missed deadlines under any circumstances.
