Eligibility Criteria

The engagement is for purely temporary project positions at CSIR - Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow under Advertisement No. 17/2025 for various projects in Chemical Sciences and Life Sciences areas.

• Project Associate (PAT-I) / Project Associate-I (Chemical Sciences – Online/Walk-in): Master Degree/M.Pharm in Chemical Sciences/Pharmaceutical Chemistry OR M.Sc. in Chemical Sciences/Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry, with CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including lectureship/assistant professorship) or GATE or equivalent national level qualification as specified for certain posts.
• Junior Research Fellow (Project): Master’s degree in Chemistry/Chemical Sciences/Pharmaceutical Chemistry and qualified National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE or equivalent national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies/Institutions.
• Project Associate (Life Sciences area): M.Sc. in Zoology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Life Sciences with minimum 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA in M.Sc., or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences and qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including lectureship/assistant professorship) or GATE or equivalent.
• Project Assistant: B.Sc. in Life Sciences with laboratory experience in cell and animal handling.

Age Limit

• Project Associate (PAT-I) / Project Associate-I: Upper age limit 35 years.
• Junior Research Fellow (Project): Upper age limit 28 years.
• Project Assistant: Upper age limit 50 years.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD/Women – 5 years; OBC – 3 years, or as per Government of India instructions.
• Age Calculation (Online mode): Age will be reckoned as on the last date of submission of online application.
• Age Calculation (Walk-in): For walk-in positions, determining date for age/qualification and experience shall be the date of interview.

Salary/Stipend

• Project Associate (PAT-I) – Online Mode, Position Code 001: Rs. 31,000 + 20% HRA per month.
• Project Associate-I – Online Mode, Position Code 002: Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA per month.
• Project Associate (PAT-I) – Walk-in, Position Code 001, 002, 004, 005, 006: Rs. 25,000 + 20% HRA per month (except where Rs. 31,000 + 20% HRA is specified for Life Sciences post with NET/GATE etc.).
• Junior Research Fellow (Project) – Position Code 003: Rs. 37,000 + 20% HRA per month.
• Project Assistant – Position Code 007: Rs. 20,000 + 16% HRA per month.

Selection Process

• Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on essential qualifications and additional criteria, if required.
• Shortlisted candidates for Part-I will be informed about date and mode of interview through email and list will be displayed on CDRI website.
• For Part-II (Walk-In-Interview), eligible candidates must report on the specified date and time at CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow.
• Written test in the subject area may be conducted on the same day, if required, to shortlist candidates for interview depending on the number of candidates.
• The interview may continue on subsequent days; candidates must make their own arrangements accordingly.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Final selection is subject to verification of original documents; any discrepancy will lead to automatic cancellation of selection.

How To Apply

• Part-I – Online Mode: Candidates must apply through the online application link activated from 01.12.2025 (5:00 PM) up to 14.12.2025. Applicants should ensure that they meet all essential qualifications and other conditions as on the last date of submission. Applications submitted after the scheduled date and time will be rejected.
• The online application must include complete details of qualifications and experience beyond minimum essential criteria, with supporting documents. Candidates with CGPA/SGPA/OGPA must convert it to percentage as per university formula and attach proof.
• Part-II – Walk-In-Interview: Eligible candidates should report for Walk-in-Interview for position codes 001–003 (Chemical Sciences) and 004–007 (Life Sciences) on 08.12.2025 from 09:00 AM onwards at CSIR-CDRI, Sector 10, Jankipuram Extension, Sitapur Road, Lucknow – 226031. Candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be allowed.
• Candidates must bring duly filled application form and undertaking (downloadable from www.cdri.res.in), original documents and self-attested copies of mark sheets/certificates, along with a recent passport size photograph. Provisional mark sheets/result awaited cases will not be considered.

• All essential qualifications and conditions must be fulfilled as on the last date of application (online) or date of interview (walk-in).
• Possession of minimum essential qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview; the Screening Committee may adopt its own shortlisting criteria.
• The positions are purely temporary, initially up to one year or project duration/funds, whichever is earlier, and may be extended yearly based on performance and project/fund availability.
• Total engagement as project staff in CSIR-CDRI/other CSIR Labs across projects shall not exceed 6 years, extendable up to 7 years only in specific PSU/Industry/Startup funded short projects as per guidelines.
• Engagement does not confer any right for regularization or consideration against any CSIR/CDRI post.
• No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in interview or written test.
• Candidates seeking age relaxation must attach relevant certificates in prescribed format from the competent authority.
• Applications submitted after the scheduled date/time will be summarily rejected.
• Advertisement/positions may be cancelled at any stage due to reasons like project closure, non-availability of funds, integrity issues or unethical practices.
