CSIR-IMMT Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 13 Project Associate, Project Scientist and More Posts

CSIR - Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, has invited online applications from Indian citizens for 13 temporary project positions in 12 post codes (8701 to 8712): Project Associate - I (PAT - I), Senior Project Associate (S-PAT), Project Associate - II (PAT - II) and Project Scientist - II (PS - II). The posts are co-terminus with the projects, and emoluments range from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 67,000 plus HRA @20%. Who Can Apply

Applicants must be citizens of India. Age, essential qualification and experience are counted on the last date of submission of application. Result awaiting candidates are not eligible to apply. Unless otherwise mentioned, equivalent or higher degrees are not considered as essential qualification. The notice prints each post's age limit as "Max. Age" in years, as on the last date of receipt of application.

Project Associate - I (PAT - I), post codes 8701 to 8708

The maximum age is 35 years for all eight post codes. The notice prints no experience requirement for these posts. The last column is headed "Job Requirement / Desirable Qualification" in the notice.

Senior Project Associate (S-PAT), post code 8709

Maximum age: 40 years. Essential qualification, any one of the following, each with experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services:

• M.Sc. in Chemistry with 3 years' experience.
• Or PhD in Chemistry with 2 years' experience.
• Or Masters/Integrated Masters in Chemical Engineering with 2 years' experience.
• Or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 3 years' experience.

Job requirement / desirable: proficiency in spectroscopic data analysis, with desirable experience in biological assays and material synthesis.

Project Associate - II (PAT - II), post codes 8710 and 8711

Maximum age: 35 years for both post codes.

• 8710: M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Chemical Science, and two years of relevant experience in research and development in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services. Desirable: experience in polymer synthesis, organic synthesis, knowledge in characterization of the synthesized molecule through spectroscopy.
• 8711: M.Sc. in Chemistry/Materials Science with two years of relevant experience in research and development in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services; Or M.E./M.Tech. in Material Science. Desirable: experience in chemical synthesis of inorganic materials, halide perovskite materials and energy harvesting device fabrications etc.

Project Scientist - II (PS - II), post code 8712

Maximum age: 40 years. Essential qualification: Ph.D. in Chemistry/ Physics/ Materials Science, and five years of relevant experience (post qualification) in research and development in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services. Desirable: knowledge in hydrometallurgical unit operations, electrochemical leaching, precipitation, roasting and calcination.

Age Relaxation

The relaxation in the age limit is 05 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women and 03 years for OBC, respectively, or as per Govt. of India instructions issued from time to time. Date of birth in the high school certificate or equivalent is accepted, and no change is allowed after a date of birth is claimed.

Pay and Tenure

Every pay figure is printed as monthly emoluments plus HRA @20%. For post 8710, Rs. 35,000 + HRA @20% applies to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR/NET including lectureship/assistant professorship, or GATE, or national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their agencies/institutions. Rs. 28,000 + HRA @20% applies to candidates who do not fall under that category.

• Engagement is on behalf of the sponsoring agency, temporary and co-terminus with the project tenure or 06 years (total under one project and/or combination of projects), whichever is earlier.
• The initial offer is for one year or up to the project duration, whichever is earlier; it may be extended or curtailed depending on the project duration and (or) satisfactory performance.
• Total engagement across CSIR projects cannot exceed 6 years. Continuation beyond 06 years is allowed only in contract/consultancy/sponsored projects funded by PSUs, industries, start-ups and individual entrepreneurs that are 12 months or less in duration, with a total of not more than 07 years.
• Engagement may be terminated at any time on one month's notice from either side or one month's emoluments in lieu.
• Project personnel may take 12 days of leave (one day per month); leave beyond this is without emoluments, calculated pro-rata.
• Women project personnel are eligible for maternity leave of 180 days and male project personnel for paternity leave of 15 days, only in case of two surviving children as per CSIR norms. The stipend for this leave is paid only after re-joining and submission of relevant medical reports/documents.

Applications are made online through the portal available in the CSIR-IMMT website (registration/apply link printed in the notice: rects.immt.res.in). The notice does not describe the individual form-filling screens.

1. Register and apply online through the portal. The process has two parts: one-time registration and filling the online application.
2. If you wish to apply for more than one post, apply separately for each post code.
3. If you are currently employed, furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer while applying online and/or produce it in original at the interview; otherwise the candidature may get cancelled.
4. Submit the application by 20.11.2026 (up to 05.00 pm).
5. Take a printout of the application form after successful submission.

Shortlisted candidates must bring these in original at the interview:

• Print out of online application form.
• Any ID proof (Aadhaar Card / Voter ID Card / PAN Card / Passport / Driving License).
• Mark sheets and certificates of all years and semesters (10th/Matriculation onwards, including CGPA to percentage conversion certificate if applicable).
• Category/EWS Certificate (if applicable).
• No Objection Certificate (if applicable).
• Experience Certificate (if applicable).

Selection and Interview

Applications are screened for short-listing as per the criteria fixed by the Competent Authority. Meeting the essential qualification alone gives no right to be called for interview. Shortlisted candidates appear for the interview at CSIR - IMMT, Bhubaneswar. No interview call letter is issued separately. The selection committee recommends final selection based on the candidates' performance and may also make panels for future project needs.

The interview dates are tentative. Any change in date or time will be informed to shortlisted candidates through the CSIR-IMMT website. The reporting time on both days is 09.00 am to 10.30 am.

• Category once mentioned in the online application form is treated as final.
• No TA/DA is admissible for appearing for the interview. Selected candidates must join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of engagement.
• Candidates pursuing Ph.D. (AcSIR Ph.D. etc.) can apply only when their Ph.D. research domain is aligned with the research area of the project. They need permission/NOC from the Director/Competent Authority and must produce it at the interview, failing which the candidature may get cancelled.
• All posts are tenable at CSIR - IMMT, Bhubaneswar. Project staff may be required to travel and stay at places outside Bhubaneswar as per project need.
• Engagement does not give any right or claim, directly or indirectly, for regularization to a permanent post of CSIR.
• For non-CSIR funded projects, including those funded by international agencies, the funding agency's guidelines apply; if there are none, CSIR's guidelines apply.
• Original documents of selected candidates are verified at joining. Candidature is provisional, and false information or suppression of facts leads to automatic cancellation.
• CSIR - IMMT reserves the right not to fill the positions. The number of positions and the duration of engagement may increase or decrease, and the Director's decision is final.
