ESIC Teaching Faculty & Senior Resident Eligibility Criteria

ESIC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 31.08.2026.

• Teaching Faculty (Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor): 69 years (not exceeding)
• Senior Resident - Clinical Subjects: 44 years (not exceeding)
• Senior Resident - Non-Clinical/Laboratory Science Subjects: 49 years (not exceeding)

The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates, on submission of the prescribed category certificate. The maximum tenure of engagement is till 70 years of age for Teaching Faculty, 45 years for Senior Resident in clinical subjects, and 50 years for Senior Resident in non-clinical/laboratory science subjects.

ESIC Recruitment 2026 Qualification

Educational qualification is strictly as per NMC (MCI) Teacher Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) as amended. Additional department-specific provisions include:

• Emergency Medicine: Candidates with PG qualification in Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Orthopedics, Chest/Respiratory Medicine, and Pulmonology may also apply besides those with PG qualification in Emergency Medicine/Emergency Medicine & Traumatology.
• Chest Department: Candidates with PG qualification in Chest Medicine/Pulmonary Medicine/Respiratory Medicine are eligible.
• ICU (Assistant Professor): Candidates with PG qualification in Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Anesthesiology, Chest Medicine, and Internal Medicine are eligible.
• One year of Senior Residency experience from a teaching institute after PG qualification is required for entry-level Faculty positions; no experience is required after PG qualification for Senior Resident posts.
• Candidates with a post-doctoral qualification are not required to have separate post-PG senior residency experience for Assistant Professor posts.
• In Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology & Pharmacology, candidates with an M.Sc. from a Medical/Health Sciences University with a Ph.D. from a Medical/Health Science University are eligible for Senior Resident posts; with one additional year of Senior Resident experience, they become eligible for Assistant Professor posts in these subjects.

Alternate Eligibility Route for Faculty Posts (MD/MS/DNB or PG Diploma with Experience)

All candidates selected under this revised eligibility must pass the Basic Course in Biomedical Research within 2 years of joining, failing which further continuation in the post or promotion will not be possible.

ESIC Teaching Faculty & Senior Resident Salary

Monthly pay is released based on the Biometric Attendance System data for the individual's working hours, with all absences regularized through leave due within the stipulated time frame.

Terms of Contract

• The engagement is purely contractual for a period of 01 year from the date of joining, renewable subject to willingness, satisfactory performance, and institute requirement.
• Senior Resident selected in General Medicine will be posted to Medical ICU, Respiratory ICU, and Casualty on a rotational basis; those in General Surgery will be posted in the Trauma Care Ward and Surgical ICU on rotation.
• Senior Residents in Orthopedics, General Surgery, and General Medicine must also perform compulsory on-site duty in Casualty as scheduled by the Hospital Administration.
• The engagement may be terminated by either side with one month's prior notice; spot resignation requires depositing one month's salary to the ESIC Account through challan.
• No service benefits such as PF, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Allowance, Medical Benefits, Seniority, or Promotion are admissible to contractual employees.
• Selected Senior Residents must deposit a Security Deposit of ₹20,000/- through Demand Draft in favour of ESI Fund Account No. 2, payable at State Bank of India, Panjim, Goa, at the time of joining. This deposit is forfeited if the candidate resigns or leaves within one year of joining.
• Absence from work beyond 7 days without proper permission amounts to voluntary abandonment and automatic termination. Attendance must be marked manually as well as on the Aadhaar Enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (AEBAS) daily.
• No private practice is allowed in any capacity after joining.

ESIC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

The fee must be paid through a Demand Draft in favour of the ESI Fund Account No. 2, payable at State Bank of India, Panjim, Goa. The fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

ESIC Teaching Faculty & Senior Resident Selection Process

Selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's acquired academic credentials and performance in an interview before the Selection Board. The result will be displayed on the official website, www.esic.gov.in, and the offer of appointment will be sent through e-mail. Selected candidates must join as per the instructions mentioned in the offer of appointment.

Required Documents

The self-attested copy of the following documents must be attached with the application form and produced in original before the interview/before generation of the offer of appointment:

• Admit Card/Certificate of passing Class 10th for Date of Birth
• All Marks Sheets, Attempt, and Degree Certificate of MBBS
• All Marks Sheets, Attempt, and Degree Certificate of MD/MS/DNB/Other Examination
• Valid EWS/OBC/SC/ST/Divyangjan Certificate (issued in the Central Government job format), where applicable
• State/NMC Medical Registration Certificate (updated)
• Experience Certificate & Proof of Publication(s)
• Relieving Certificate from previous Employer, if applicable
• Aadhaar Card
• Completion Certificate of ICMR/NMC conducted Bio-medical research examination, if any
• NMC appeared Revised/Basic Medical Education Workshop Completion Certificate, if any

1. Download and fill the prescribed Application Format for the specific post and department, in CAPITAL letters, as issued with Advertisement No. 01 dated 24.08.2026.
2. Attach self-attested copies of all required documents, including the Demand Draft for the application fee, if applicable.
3. Candidates opting for an online interview must e-mail the scanned signed application form with documents to [email protected] at least 1 day prior to the interview date, and complete submission by 3:00 PM on 01.09.2026.
4. Candidates opting for a walk-in (offline) interview should report directly with the duly filled application, required documents, and Demand Draft (as Interview Fee, if applicable) on the scheduled interview date.
5. Report at the Conference Room, 1st Floor, ESIC Hospital, Margao, Goa - 403601, between 09:00 AM and 10:30 AM on the applicable interview date for the concerned department.
6. Appear before the Selection Board for the interview and document verification.

Applications must be submitted separately for each post in the prescribed format only; applications in any other format, or incomplete applications, will be summarily rejected. Mere submission of an application does not confer any right to an interview unless the candidate reports on the scheduled date and time with the required documents. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview or for submission of any document. All disputes are to be addressed at judicial offices in Goa only.
