KRCL Recruitment 2026 Eligibility to Apply
KRCL Recruitment 2026 is open to the following categories of candidates:
- Land Loser Candidates: Candidates whose land was acquired for construction of the Konkan Railway Line between Roha (Maharashtra) and Thokur (Karnataka), irrespective of the percentage of land lost. The land loser and/or their spouse, son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter are eligible under the landloser quota.
- Employment Exchange Registered Candidates: Domiciles of Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka with valid employment exchange cards registered along the Konkan Railway route (Raigad, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri districts of Maharashtra; Goa State; Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada/South Kannada districts of Karnataka).
- Other Domicile Candidates: Candidates domiciled in the States of Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka (not covered above).
- KRCL Employees: Serving KRCL employees who have completed at least 3 years of regular service.
Note: Recruitment in the erstwhile Group-D post - Track Maintainer - is limited to eligible Land Loser candidates only.
Preference in Recruitment
Candidates securing the minimum qualifying marks are given preference for recruitment in the following order:
- Land Loser candidates (first preference)
- Candidates registered in Employment Exchanges along the KR route (second preference)
- Candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka, and KRCL employees (third preference)
Candidates must declare their status (Land Loser/Employment Exchange/Domicile) at the time of application; this choice is final. The second and third panels are operated only after exhausting the panel of eligible land losers.

KRCL Recruitment 2026 Reservation Policy
This notification provides Vertical Reservation for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and EWS, and Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (Ex.SM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- EWS Reservation: Candidates not covered under SC/ST/OBC-NCL reservation, whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8 lakh and who do not own specified categories of land/property, can claim EWS reservation with a valid Income & Asset Certificate.
- Note: EBC and EWS are different categories - EBC candidates get fee concession only, not job reservation.
- Horizontal Reservation: Ex-Servicemen and PwBD reservations are included within the post-wise vacancies shown above, irrespective of social community. Ex.SM and PwBD candidates can also apply against unreserved vacancies of posts not exclusively earmarked for them (PwBD candidates only where the post is indicated as suitable for their disability), and are eligible for age relaxation and fee exemption.
- PwBD Categories: VI (Visually Impaired: Blind/Low Vision), HI (Hearing Impaired: Deaf/Hard of Hearing), LD (Locomotor Disability: One Arm/One Leg/One Arm-Leg/Dwarfism) - subject to a minimum of 40% disability. One Commercial Supervisor post is reserved for PwBD candidates.
- EWS, SC, ST, and OBC-NCL candidates who qualify without relaxed standards will not be adjusted against reserved vacancies and will be considered under UR.
KRCL Recruitment 2026 Exam Pattern (CBT)
The recruitment process varies by post group:
- Section Controller, Station Master, Assistant Loco Pilot: CBT → Computer-Based/OMR-based Aptitude Test → Document Verification (DV) → Medical Examination. Merit is prepared with 70% weightage to CBT marks and 30% to Aptitude Test marks.
- Senior Section Engineer (Mechanical/S&T), Junior Engineer (Civil/Mechanical), Goods Train Manager, Commercial Supervisor, Technician-III (Mechanical), ESTM-III: CBT → Document Verification → Medical Examination.
- Track Maintainer: CBT → Document Verification → Physical Efficiency Test (PET) → Medical Examination.
The CBT is of screening nature with negative marking - one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Questions are set in five languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, and Kannada (the Aptitude Test for SCOR/SM/ALP is in English and Hindi only).
