Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
- For Technician Apprentice: Successfully completed 3-year Diploma Engineering on full-time regular basis in respective disciplines (Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical) from any institution recognized by AICTE
- For Graduate Apprentice (Non-Engineering): Passed B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Passed B.Com with Accounting & Finance / Passed BBA on full-time regular basis
- For Technical Graduate Apprentice: B.Tech/B.E on full-time regular basis in respective disciplines (Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical) from AICTE recognized institution
- Minimum Percentage Required: 50% marks in essential qualification
- Mode of Education: Only full-time regular basis qualifications are acceptable. Distance Learning Mode, Part-Time Mode, Correspondence mode or any other mode except full-time regular basis shall NOT be considered
Essential Qualifications
- Qualifications must be from AICTE recognized institutions
- Full-time regular basis education only
- Minimum 50% marks in the qualifying degree/diploma
Desirable
- No prior apprenticeship training or experience (candidates with more than one year of prior apprenticeship training as of 01.12.2025 are not eligible)
- Should not have completed or terminated apprenticeship training mid-way previously
- Should not be pursuing apprenticeship in any other organization or any other units of HURL
Experience
- Important: Candidates with more than one year of prior apprenticeship training or experience as of 01.12.2025 are NOT eligible to apply
- Freshers who have not completed any apprenticeship training are eligible
- Candidates who have already completed their apprenticeship training or terminated their apprenticeship training mid-way are NOT eligible
Additional Important Conditions
- Higher Qualifications NOT Allowed: Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as B.Tech/B.E or equivalent (for Diploma holders), MBA or equivalent, MCA, CA, ICWA, LLB or equivalent shall NOT be considered
- Suppression of information regarding possession or pursuing higher qualification shall render a candidate ineligible for consideration at any stage of selection/termination or any time during period of apprenticeship training
Salary/Stipend
- Graduate Apprentice Trainees: Rs. 9,000/- per month during the entire one-year apprenticeship period
- Diploma Apprentice Trainees: Rs. 8,000/- per month during the entire one-year apprenticeship period
- Stipend Basis: As per norms/rate of stipend payable to apprentices per month of Apprentices Act, 1961/1973, Apprentices Rules 1992/2019 as amended from time to time
- Important Note: The selection for the Apprenticeship Trainee will NOT create/confer and/or confirm any right whatsoever for appointment in HURL
- Accommodation: Selected candidates will NOT be provided with any accommodation or any other facility. They will have to make their own arrangements for their stay during the training period
- No Employment Right: Upon completion of the apprenticeship period, HURL shall have NO obligation to offer employment to such apprentices NOR can an Apprentice claim right for employment on the grounds of completion of Apprenticeship
Age Limit (as on 01/12/2025)
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 25 years
- Upper Age Limit: 25 years for all categories (Technician Apprentice and Graduate Apprentice)
- Reckoning Date: Age will be calculated as on 01/12/2025

Selection Process
- Merit-Based Selection: Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on merit list formed on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in the essential qualification applicable to the respective trade
- No Written Test or Interview: There will be NO written test or interview for selection
- Tie-Breaking Rule: In case of two or more applicants having secured same marks, the applicant older in age amongst them (as per Date of Birth in 10th marksheet) shall be considered first
- NATS Portal Registration: Candidates registered on NATS portal and applying against the notification shall be considered for selection
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at HURL, Barauni
- Medical Fitness Test: Candidates will have to complete pre-engagement medical fitness tests by District Civil Surgeon or equivalent authority before engagement as Apprentice Trainee as per Apprentices Act 1961 (at candidate's own cost)
- Contract Approval: After successful completion of document verification and successful contract approval of apprenticeship on the respective portal, candidates will be appointed as Apprentice Trainee
- Joining Period: Seven (7) days period will be given to the trainee for joining. The Apprentice is expected to join on the given date, failing which his/her candidature may stand cancelled
- First Come First Serve: In case of insufficient response from the advertisement to fulfil the quota, applications may be accepted on first come first serve basis (only candidates fitting eligibility criteria will be considered)
