Eligibility Criteria for IIT Roorkee Junior Research Fellow 2026

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications to apply for IIT Roorkee Junior Research Fellow positions:

• Option 1: M.E/M.Tech in Electronics & Communication (EC)/Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/Electrical Engineering (EE) or equivalent with CGPA ≥ 6.0
• Option 2: B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)/Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/Information Technology (IT) or equivalent with CGPA ≥ 7.5 (out of 10.0)
• Option 3: MSc in Electronics/Physics or equivalent with CGPA ≥ 7.5 (out of 10.0)

Additional Requirement: Qualified national-level test (GATE/NET/etc.) OR a degree from a CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institute)

Important Note: Applicants failing to satisfy both conditions will not be considered.

2. Desirable Qualifications and Skills

The candidate should possess:

• Strong coding background and good understanding of embedded system design (Hardware and Software)
• Prior experience in designing and fabricating embedded/IoT systems (desirable)
• PCB design and fabrication skills
• Embedded programming expertise (ESP32, nRF, STM32)
• Knowledge of Serial communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN)
• Communication software stack development
• Coding proficiency in ESP-IDF, Python, MATLAB

3. Nationality

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this position.
