IOB LBO Selection Process 2026

As per the official notification, the Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 selection process is conducted in three stages:

1. Online Examination: An objective test of 140 questions for 200 marks across four sections, with sectional timing. There are no sectional qualifying marks in the 2026 cycle; the cumulative score across all sections is considered.
2. Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Applicable only to candidates who have not studied the local language of the applied state as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12. Candidates who fail the LPT do not proceed further.
3. Personal Interview: Carries 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for unreserved candidates and 45% for reserved category candidates.

The final merit list is prepared using an 80:20 weightage between the Online Examination and Personal Interview. The minimum aggregate qualifying score (combined Online Exam and Interview) is 35% for unreserved candidates and 30% for reserved category candidates. Merit lists are prepared state-wise and category-wise.

The IOB LBO online exam consists of 140 objective-type questions divided into four sections, to be completed within 3 hours with separate time limits for each section.

There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer, and no penalty for unattempted questions. There are no sectional qualifying marks for the online exam; candidates only need to clear the minimum aggregate cutoff explained above.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates who have not studied the local language of the state they applied for (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, or Gujarat) as a subject in Class 10 or 12 must clear the LPT before appearing for the Personal Interview.
