MECL Recruitment 2026 Qualification
Each post has its own essential educational qualification, listed in the vacancy table above. For several technical posts, an ITI certificate or Diploma is required along with specific licences (such as a Wireman certificate for Electrician or an HMV licence for Technician/Mechanic-Drilling posts and Junior Driver). Where relevant post-qualification experience is required (for example, for Accountant, Technician-Survey, Technician-Sampling, Technician-Laboratory, Electrician, Machinist, Technician-Drilling, Mechanic and Mechanic-cum-Operator posts), it is counted only after passing the essential qualification, as on the cut-off date. Minimum essential qualifications are considered for all purposes; higher qualifications without the essential qualification are not considered.
The minimum qualifying marks in the essential qualification for all Non-Executive posts under direct recruitment is 45%. For qualifications like Intermediate pass of CA/ICWA and other certifications with no stipulated minimum marks, a pass is sufficient.

MECL Non-Executive Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
Selection for all posts follows a multi-stage process, with all tests conducted at Nagpur only:
- Screening of applications: A Screening Committee segregates applications into "Eligible" and "Not Eligible" based on the information provided in the online application.
- Written Test (100% weightage): Conducted at Nagpur by an independent external agency notified as a "Public Examination Authority". Cut-off marks are 50% for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS, 45% for SC/ST, and a relaxed standard for PwD candidates as per government guidelines.
- Document Verification: Candidates clearing the written test are called for document verification, ordinarily in a ratio of up to 1:7 per vacancy, in order of merit.
- Skill Test / Trade Test (qualifying in nature): Conducted by an internal committee, which segregates candidates as "Suitable" or "Not Suitable". This stage does not carry marks toward the final merit list.
- Final Merit List: Drawn up based on Written Test marks among candidates found "Suitable" in the Skill/Trade Test, and approved by the concerned Functional Director.
