Eligibility Criteria

  • Senior Scientific Officer (both Centres): Not more than 40 years of age; Ph.D. in relevant discipline OR Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology/Psychology/Criminology/Neuropsychology/Clinical/Investigative Psychology or other Psychology discipline; Ph.D. holders need minimum 2 years’ experience, Master’s degree holders need minimum 5 years’ analysis/research experience in eligible government/research/forensic/industry organizations; desirable experience in polygraph, BEOS, SDS, Eye Detect & LVA.
  • Junior Scientific Officer (Centre for Happiness and Wellbeing): Not more than 35 years; Master’s in Psychology/Criminology/Neuropsychology/Forensic/Clinical/Investigative Psychology or any Psychology/Forensic Psychology discipline or Master’s in Forensic Science with specialization in Psychology/Criminology; 3 years’ analysis/research experience in relevant fields in government/research/forensic labs or industry; Ph.D. full-time counts as max 3 years’ research experience; desirable Ph.D. and experience in polygraph, BEOS, SDS, Eye Detect & LVA.
  • Junior Scientific Officer (Multimedia Forensics): Not more than 35 years; BE/B.Tech in CSE/ECE/IT/Electronics/EEE/Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) OR Master’s in Computer Science/IT/Electronics/Physics/Forensic Science (with physical sciences)/Cyber Forensics/Digital Forensics/Information Security/Cyber Security/Multimedia Forensics/ICT/AI/Data Science/Cyber Security Management; 3 years’ analysis/research experience in relevant field in forensic labs/recognised institutes/industry; Ph.D. full-time counts as max 3 years’ research; desirable Ph.D., familiarity with forensic audio-video tools and FSL experience.
  • Junior Scientific Officer (DNA Forensics): Not more than 35 years; Master’s in Zoology/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Genetics/Human Genetics/Molecular Biology/Life/Biological Sciences/Forensic Biotechnology/Forensic Science (Biology/Biotechnology) OR BE/B.Tech in Biotechnology; 3 years’ analytical/research experience in relevant field in government/recognised labs/research institutes/industry; Ph.D. full-time counts as max 3 years’ research; desirable Ph.D., knowledge of forensic DNA technology and FSL experience.
  • Senior Scientific Assistant (Multimedia Forensics): Not more than 30 years; BE/B.Tech in CSE/ECE/IT/Electronics/EEE/Computer Science & Engineering (Cyber Security) OR same set of relevant Master’s degrees as JSO (Multimedia Forensics) with Forensic Science (physical sciences) eligibility; desirable experience with forensic audio-video tools and FSL work.
  • Laboratory Assistant: Age between 18 and 27 years (relaxable for Govt. servants up to 40 years); Bachelor’s Degree in any one of Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physical Anthropology, Genetics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Forensic Science or Criminology from a recognised University/Institute.

Salary/Stipend

  • Senior Scientific Officer posts are in Pay Level 10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with corresponding monthly pay and allowances as per NFSU/GoI rules.
  • Junior Scientific Officer posts are in Pay Level 7; Senior Scientific Assistant in Pay Level 6; Laboratory Assistant in Pay Level 5, all with pay and allowances as applicable to NFSU technical staff.
  • All posts are regular direct recruitment positions with probation and service conditions as per University norms.

Age Limit (as on 18-01-2026)

  • The date for determining eligibility including age shall be the prescribed closing date for submission of online application i.e. 18/01/2026.
  • Upper age: 40 years for Senior Scientific Officer; 35 years for all Junior Scientific Officer posts; 30 years for Senior Scientific Assistant; 18–27 years for Laboratory Assistant with relaxation for Government servants up to 40 years.
  • Upper age limit relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/Disabled/Ex-servicemen as per Government of India rules; current employees of Central/State/UT Government/University/Board/Corporation are exempt from the specified upper age limit for some posts as mentioned.

  • Gen/EWS/OBC category applicants: Rs. 500/- plus GST and applicable transaction charges; application fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

  • Selection for Senior Scientific Officer posts (Sr. No. 1 and 2) will be based on overall record and performance in interview; University may conduct a screening test and/or apply higher qualification/experience norms to shortlist candidates.
  • Selection for Junior Scientific Officer, Senior Scientific Assistant and Laboratory Assistant posts (Sr. No. 3 to 7) will be based on merit of marks obtained in written test; University may conduct a screening test and/or shortlist based on experience.
  • Call letters for screening test/written test/interview will be sent only to shortlisted candidates via email/Samarth portal; interviews will be conducted only in physical mode.
  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD will be as per Government of India norms, including latest requirements for OBC-NCL (non-creamy layer) and EWS certificates issued on/after 01-04-2025.

General Information/Instructions

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens and must apply only through the online Samarth portal; incomplete applications or those without requisite documents will not be considered.
  • Experience will be counted only from the date of acquiring the essential qualification; qualifications from UGC-recognised universities or approved institutions only are considered valid.
  • The University reserves the right to fill or not fill any or all posts, to withdraw or modify the advertisement, and to increase or decrease the number of posts without notice.
