Selection Process for NLC India Apprenticeship 2026

Selection for this apprenticeship is purely merit-based, calculated from the marks scored in the candidate's qualifying examination rather than through a written test or interview. This makes accuracy in reporting percentage figures critical for every applicant.

  1. Trade Apprentices are ranked by the percentage of marks scored across all subjects in the ITI (NCVT) examination of their respective trade.
  2. Diploma/Technician Apprentices are ranked by the percentage of marks scored in their Diploma.
  3. Graduate (Engineering) Apprentices are ranked by the percentage of marks scored in their BE/B.Tech.
  4. Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentices are ranked by the average percentage of marks across all semesters of their B.Com/BBA degree.
  5. If a candidate's result is in CGPA/grade form, the percentage is derived by multiplying the CGPA by a factor of 10, unless the university has its own official conversion formula.
  6. In case of a tie in percentage at the cut-off level, the senior-most candidate (by date of birth) is given preference.
  7. Shortlisted candidates then go through a certificate verification round, tentatively scheduled for 27–28 August 2026, before the final selection list is released.

Common Mistakes Candidates Should Avoid

Many otherwise eligible candidates lose their chance due to small, avoidable errors in this application process. Being aware of these common pitfalls in advance can help applicants submit a clean, valid application.

  • Not updating the NAPS/NATS profile before applying: Since the online form pulls from this portal, an outdated or incomplete profile can cause mismatched or rejected applications.
  • Overstating percentage of marks: The notification explicitly states that overstatement of marks will lead to disqualification from the selection process, so candidates must double-check their calculation, especially when converting CGPA to percentage.
  • Applying for a trade not listed in the notification: Applications for any trade or discipline other than the ones specified will not be entertained.
  • Missing the postal deadline: Submitting the online form alone is not enough - the signed hard copy with certificates must physically reach the Barsingsar office by 10 August 2026, 5:00 pm.
  • Skipping the percentage-conversion proof: Candidates awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks must attach proof of the conversion method used, or risk delays during certificate verification.
  • Applying without confirming Rajasthan domicile eligibility: Only candidates belonging to the State of Rajasthan are eligible; this is a strict, non-negotiable criterion.
  • Ignoring the experience clause: Candidates with one year or more of job experience, or those who have already undergone apprenticeship training anywhere, are not eligible.
