PGIMER Chandigarh Selection Process
Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by an interview only for Group "A" posts.
| Group | No. of MCQs | Duration | CBT Marks | Interview Marks | Total Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Group A | 85 | 85 minutes | 85 | 15 | 100 |
| Group B & C | 100 | 100 minutes | 100 | -- | 100 |
The CBT is in English only, held on an all-India basis at the notified examination cities. Each question carries 1 mark, with negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General/EWS and 35% for SC/ST/OBC (separately for CBT and interview); reserved-category candidates applying against an unreserved post must secure 40%. For Group B & C (Non-Gazetted) posts, the Government of India has dispensed with the interview, so selection is based on CBT merit only. For Group A posts, there is a 15-mark interview in addition to the CBT.
Shortlisting for document verification is done at 3 times the number of advertised posts (plus ties) where no skill test is prescribed, or 5 times the number of posts (plus ties) where a skill test is prescribed. Final selection is based on CBT marks only for Group B & C, and on CBT + interview marks for Group A. Tie cases are resolved first by fewer wrong answers/negative marks, then by earlier date of birth, then by higher aggregate percentage in 10+2, then by higher percentage in Matriculation.
Examination cities (tentative): Amritsar, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh/Mohali, Dehradun, Delhi/NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, and Shimla. The city of examination, once chosen and allotted, cannot be changed.
