Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) Act Apprentice Notification 2026 has been released on 28/02/2026 on the official website https://rwf.indianrailways.gov.in. A total of 192 vacancies have been announced through the RWF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026.

Candidates aged 15 to 24 years (as on 01/03/2026) who have passed 10th class with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) issued by NCVT in the relevant trade are eligible to apply for these Act Apprentice vacancies. The application process for RWF Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is offline and applications must be submitted before 01/04/2026 (before 17:00 hrs).

Note: The above vacancies are tentative and the administration reserves the right to modify them. Seats of PwBD and Ex-Servicemen are included in the total and not separate.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% (aggregate) marks from recognized Boards, as on the date of issue of Notification.
  • Technical Qualification: Candidates must also possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the designated trade in which this administration is imparting training, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). Mere completion of a course is not sufficient.
  • Note: Candidates who are awaiting results pertaining to ITI/NTC as on the date of this Notification are NOT eligible to apply. Candidates who have failed in ITI/NTC should not apply.
  • Higher Qualification: Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for undergoing Apprenticeship Training in response to this Notification, as they are governed by a separate scheme of Apprenticeship.
  • Employment Exchange Registration (Mandatory): The candidates who have registered their names with the local Employment Exchanges are only eligible to apply. The registration should be current and valid as on the date of issue of this Notification. Preference will be given to those candidates who have registered in Employment Exchanges within the jurisdiction of State of Karnataka.
  • Wards of Serving Railway Employees: Wards of Serving Railway employees all over the Indian Railways are also eligible to apply. Serving Railway employees should ensure that the applications of their wards are sent through their respective Controlling Officials in the prescribed proforma as per Annexure-D. Registration of names of their wards with Employment Exchanges is not necessary for this category.
  • Only full-time regular courses will be considered. All minimum essential qualifications must be from recognized Boards / NCVT.

Stipend / Salary

  • Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic: Stipend of ₹12,261/- per month during the period of apprenticeship training.
  • CNC Programming cum-Operator (COE Group): Stipend of ₹10,899/- per month during the period of apprenticeship training.
  • Stipend rates are as per extant rules amended from time to time.
  • Note: As per the Act, it is not obligatory on the part of the Railways to offer any employment to the Apprentices on completion of their Apprenticeship training. The Act Apprentices imparted training in Railway establishments will have no claim to seek employment on Railways on the basis of such training.

Age Limit (as on 01-03-2026)

  • The candidate should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 01.03.2026 (i.e. date of issue of Notification).
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC / ST candidates: Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years
    • OBC candidates: Upper age limit relaxable by 3 years
    • Age relaxation as per extant instructions of Railway Board and as amended from time to time.
  • Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation of SC/ST must produce his/her caste certificate on Govt. of India format issued by appropriate authority as per Annexure-B.
  • Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation of OBC must produce caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 01.07.2025 on Govt. of India format as per Annexure-C.

Application Fee

  • Application Fee: ₹100/- (One Hundred only) as processing fee in the form of an Indian Postal Order (IPO) / Demand Draft from any Nationalised Bank, drawn in favour of 'Principal Financial Adviser / Rail Wheel Factory'.
  • Exempted Categories: No fee is required to be paid by SC / ST / Physically Handicapped / Women candidates.
  • Applications not accompanied with the processing fee, wherever required, will be summarily rejected.
  • The IPO/DD instruments should not have been issued earlier to the date of issue of this Notification (28.02.2026).
  • The processing fee is non-refundable.

Training Period

  • Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic: Training period is One Year.
  • CNC Programming cum-Operator (COE Group): Training period is Six Months.
  • Training will be arranged in accordance with the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Council.

Selection Process

  • The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of merit list prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in 10th Std / Matriculation or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • For the purpose of calculation of percentage of marks in 10th Std, marks obtained by the candidates in all the subjects as indicated in the said marks sheet will be reckoned and not on the basis of marks of any subject or a group of subjects.
  • Tie-breaking Rule: In case of two candidates having the same marks, the candidate with older age shall be preferred. In case dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the 10th Std / Matriculation or its equivalent examination earlier shall be considered first.
  • A final merit list would be prepared equal to the number of designated trades proposed to be filled up, duly ensuring reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Servicemen candidates, in descending order of percentage of marks obtained.
  • Candidates finally enlisted to undergo training would be subjected to verification of original testimonials.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must satisfy minimum standards of physical fitness as prescribed in the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 as amended from time to time. The selected candidates will have to submit a prescribed medical examination certificate in the prescribed proforma (Annexure-E) before their engagement. Physical fitness will be certified by a government authorized Doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of Central/State Hospital.

General Information / Instructions

  • Rail Wheel Factory Administration is the nodal agency for processing of applications from candidates and preparation of their merit list.
  • Before commencement of the Apprenticeship training, selected candidates have to execute a Contract of Apprenticeship with the Employer. If the candidate is a Minor, then his/her guardian has to enter into a contract of Apprenticeship with the Employer.
  • Selected candidates are required to register the contract of Apprenticeship in online mode at the Apprenticeship portal: https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/candidate-login. Candidates are advised to register at the earliest without waiting for the final select list to be published.
  • On completion of training, the candidate, on passing a test to be conducted by NCVT in Vocational Trades, will be given a certificate of proficiency in the trade by the National Council.
  • Candidates should ensure that their Name, Father's/Mother's name/Guardian's name and Date of Birth in the application form exactly match as recorded in their Matriculation or equivalent certificates and other certificates including Aadhaar certificates. Any deviation found during document verification will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from undergoing training.
  • Reservation and age relaxation for various categories/communities is as per the Govt. of India Rules for the purpose and as revised by the Railway Board from time to time.
  • Candidates employed in Government / Quasi-Government / PSU should send their application through proper channel.
  • Candidates will have no claim to seek employment on Railways on the basis of such training as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
  • No Hostel facility will be provided. The selected candidates should make their own arrangements for their stay during their period of training.
  • The candidates attending the office for verification of documents will not be paid any TA/DA.
  • The caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) should be in the form notified by the Government of India. If the caste certified by the candidate does not appear in the Central Gazette, then he/she will be treated as belonging to 'UR' community.
  • The applicant should submit only one application form. Multiple applications will be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates are required to furnish the correct and complete postal address with Pin Code in their application.
  • The list of selected candidates will be displayed at https://rwf.indianrailways.gov.in. Important messages will be sent by SMS/E-mail.

Documents Required (Self-Attested Photocopies)

  • 10th Std / Matriculation or its equivalent marks certificate with at least 50% marks, with Date of Birth as proof of age.
  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the designated trade issued by NCVT.
  • Copy of caste certificate (SC/ST candidates in proforma Annexure-B and OBC candidates in proforma Annexure-C).
  • Physically Handicapped / Disability certificate duly issued by the competent medical board.
  • Two identical passport size photographs duly self-attested and firmly stitched in a separate cover to the application form (apart from one copy pasted on the application form).
  • Discharge certificate / serving certificate for wards of Ex-Servicemen / serving Railway employee.
  • Employment Registration card, registered in Employment Exchanges within the State of Karnataka (for Karnataka candidates) or respective local employment exchanges (for other state candidates), with renewal being current.
  • Wards of serving Railway employees should produce a certificate issued by the respective controlling officers in proforma Annexure-D.
  • IPO / Demand Draft of ₹100/- as processing fee (where applicable).

How to Apply

  • Download the Application Form (Annexure-A) and all other Annexures (B, C, D & E) from the official website of Rail Wheel Factory: https://rwf.indianrailways.gov.in. No other format shall be entertained.
  • Fill the application form carefully. Ensure that Name, Father's/Mother's/Guardian's name and Date of Birth exactly match as recorded in Matriculation and other certificates. Any deviation will lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Affix a recent colour passport size photograph duly signed/attested by the candidate on the application form.
  • Enclose all required self-attested documents including 10th marks sheet, NTC, caste certificate, Employment Exchange registration card, photographs and IPO/DD as applicable.
