RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026

Candidates applying for the Section Controller post go through a three-stage selection process. Each stage acts as a shortlisting filter for the next, and only candidates who clear one stage are called for the following one.

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): The first and screening stage, conducted in an objective MCQ format covering Analytical & Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning.
  2. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Candidates shortlisted from the CBT, generally in a ratio of 8 times the number of vacancies, appear for the CBAT, which evaluates psychometric and aptitude parameters through multiple test batteries.
  3. Document Verification (DV): Candidates who qualify both CBT and CBAT and are shortlisted on the final merit list must appear for document verification with their original certificates.

The final merit list is prepared using a combined weightage of 70% from the CBT score and 30% from the CBAT score. Only candidates who qualify the CBAT are considered for the final merit list.
