To apply for SSC JE 2026, candidates must meet the nationality, educational qualification, and age criteria prescribed for the post and organization they are applying to.
Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (an eligibility certificate from the Government of India is required for these categories).

SSC JE Salary
Selected candidates will be appointed to Group 'B' posts in Pay Level-6 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 – ₹112,400. SSC JE Selection Process
Selection for SSC JE 2026 is based on the following stages:
- Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) – Qualifying in nature. Covers General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 questions/50 marks), General Awareness (50 questions/50 marks), and the relevant engineering/technical subject based on the post applied for (100 questions/100 marks).
