Tezpur University Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria 2026

• Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in any discipline from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET / SET.
• Exempted from NET/SET/SLET if awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
• Ph.D. candidates registered prior to July 11, 2009, are exempted from NET/SLET/SET if Ph.D. thesis evaluated by two external examiners, open Ph.D. viva voce conducted, published two research papers from Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal), and presented at least two papers based on Ph.D. work in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR sponsored conferences/seminars.
• NET/SLET/SET not required for Master's Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by UGC, CSIR or similar test.
• SLET/SET valid as minimum eligibility for direct recruitment to Universities / Colleges / Institutions in the respective state only.
• OR Ph.D degree obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by QS, THE or ARWU.
• Essential Experience: Not less than five (05) years in teaching and organizing/conducting offline and online professional/faculty development training programmes under govt. schemes such as Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP/PMMMNMTT) or HRDC of Govt. of India in a recognized university/institute.
