IMSc Project Assistant & Other Posts Recruitment 2025 Vacancy Details 

Eligibility Criteria

• Project Assistant Essential qualifications: M.Sc/BTech/BE/BS (4 year) or equivalent in any area of science or engineering, from a reputed institution
• Project Assistant Essential skills: familiarity with python or R programming, familiarity with basic bioinformatic data and file formats
• Project Assistant Desirable: familiarity with deep-learning frameworks, familiarity with NGS data, in particular ChIP-seq and Hi-C data
• Research Associate Essential qualifications: Ph.D in Computer Science / Mathematics / related areas. Candidate who has submitted the thesis in the above areas but not yet defended can also apply, but should successfully defend within four months of applying
• Research Associate Essential skills: Should be working in the area of complexity theory
• Research Associate Desirable: A background in proof complexity is preferable
• Administrative Trainee Essential: Any bachelor degree with First Class & with good English knowledge. Should have passed out during 2023, 2024 & 2025 only. The candidate should possess good working knowledge in MS-Office tools & email operations & Accounting procedure

Salary/Stipend

• Project Assistant: Rs. 46,990/- p.m. for first two years Rs. 53,340/- p.m. for third year
• Research Associate: Rs. 75,000/- for those who obtained Ph.D Degree Rs. 54,500/- for those who submitted or defended Ph.D. Thesis
• Administrative Trainee: Rs.20,000/- per month (Consolidated and all inclusive)

Age Limit (as on 04-01-2026)

• Project Positions: Less than 40 years
• Administrative Trainee: Minimum 18 years & Maximum 25 years

Important Dates

Selection Process

• Project Positions: Shortlisting of candidates followed by on-line interview
• Administrative Trainees: The Selection will be made on merit basis through a written test, typing test on Computer followed by Interview, all of which will be conducted on the same day. Only those candidates who qualify in written test and typing test (held in the forenoon) will be called for interview (proposed for Afternoon) on the same day

General Information/Instructions

• Interested candidates are requested to send a brief e-mail by attaching therewith their latest resume to the unique email ID / fill in the Google form provided at Col (8) against the Project positions in the above tables on or before 2400 hrs on the date mentioned at Col (9) against the Project positions mentioning the position details in the Subject of the e-mail as "Application for the Project Position (Name of the Project Position in Capital Letters) of Advt. No. 12-R/IMSc/2025 dt. 18.12.2025"
• Candidates meeting the above criteria are requested to send a brief e-mail by attaching therewith their latest resume to unique e-mail id as mentioned at Col. (10) against the trainee position in the above table on or before 2400 hrs on 04.01.2026 along with scanned copies of relevant certificates for proof of date of birth, educational & computer qualifications, experience, if any, etc. mentioning the trainee position in the subject of the e-mail as "Application for Administrative Trainee of Advt No. 12-R/IMSc/2025 dt. 18.12.2025"
• Mails sent after the above time & date will not be considered under any circumstances
• Indicating subject in the e-mail as explained above under General Information of the Project & Trainee Position is very important
• Only those candidates who are meeting the minimum educational qualifications & experience mentioned in the advertisement will be eligible to appear for the interview. Hence screened list of candidates will be displayed by us after verifying their candidature on the "Opportunities page" of the Institute's website [www.imsc.res.in]. Therefore, short listed candidates whose names are displayed by us on Opportunities page only need to appear for interview as per the Project position-wise date already fixed by us in the above Table
• The candidate should produce one copy of valid proof of ID card with original (like AADHAR/Driving License/ Passport / VoterID)
• Except displaying the shortlisted candidates on our website, no separate call letter / confirmation requesting the candidates to attend the Interview will be sent by this Institute
• Emails received by us without attaching resume will not be considered under any circumstances
• Hard copies of applications / resume received by hand / post / courier will not be considered under any circumstances
• The prescribed qualifications are minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle the candidate to be considered for the advertised position for shortlisting. The decision of the Director of this Institute in all matters will be final and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this matter
• Admission against this advertisement selection process will be purely as per terms and conditions mentioned therein and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on termination
• The admitted candidate shall have no claim of appointment / absorption in IMSc, Chennai
• Selected candidates will have to join for training immediately on receipt of offer of admission
