Essential Qualifications
For Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman):
- Should have successfully completed apprenticeship from a recognised/reputed workshop in the relevant trade under Apprentice Act 1961 or under any other recognised Apprenticeship Scheme
- OR Should have completed training course in the relevant trade from an ITI recognised for this purpose and have 1 year trade experience
- OR 4 years experience in the trade for which no training is available in the Industrial Training Institute or other recognised institution
- Should qualify a trade entrance examination
For MTS (Peon):
- Matriculation or equivalent pass
- Two years experience as office attendant
For MTS (Sweeper):
- Matriculation or equivalent pass
- Two years experience in cleanship in any recognised firm
Experience Requirements
- Mechanical Fitter: Apprenticeship completion or 1 year trade experience with ITI training or 4 years trade experience without formal training
- MTS (Peon): Two years experience as office attendant (mandatory)
- MTS (Sweeper): Two years experience in cleanship in any recognised firm (mandatory)

Salary/Stipend

Age Relaxation

Selection Process
- Stage 1: Scrutiny of Applications - All applications will be scrutinised subject to eligibility criteria and necessary documents

- Mathematics: Problems relating to integers and whole numbers, LCM and HCF, Decimals and Fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations and BODMAS, Percentage, Ratio and Proportions, Work and Time, Direct and inverse Proportions, Averages, Simple Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Area, Distance and Time, Lines and Angles, Square and Square Roots
- English: Understanding of basics of English language, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and correct usage. Comprehension based on simple paragraph
- General Awareness: Social Studies (History, Geography, Art and Culture, Civics, Economics), General Science and Environmental studies up to 10th standard
- Reasoning: Alpha-Numeric Series, Coding and Decoding, Analogy, Following Directions, Similarities and Differences, Jumbling, Problem Solving and Analysis, Non-verbal Reasoning based on diagrams, Age Calculations, Calendar and Clock etc.

Nature of Duties/Job Profile
- Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman): Will form core team of tradesmen towards carrying out repairs, maintenance and overhauling of all MT vehicles
- MTS (Peon): Physical maintenance of records, general cleanliness & upkeep, carrying files & papers, photocopying, sending fax, other non-clerical work, assisting in routine office work including computer work, delivering dak outside building, watch and ward duties, opening & closing of rooms
- MTS (Sweeper): Cleaning of rooms, dusting of furniture, cleaning of building fixtures, any other work assigned by superior authority
- Above mentioned duties are only illustrative and not exhaustive. Indian Coast Guard may add duties of similar nature ordinarily performed by officials at this level
