Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman): Matriculation or equivalent (Essential)
• MTS (Peon): Matriculation or equivalent pass
• MTS (Sweeper): Matriculation or equivalent pass

Essential Qualifications

For Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman):

• Should have successfully completed apprenticeship from a recognised/reputed workshop in the relevant trade under Apprentice Act 1961 or under any other recognised Apprenticeship Scheme
• OR Should have completed training course in the relevant trade from an ITI recognised for this purpose and have 1 year trade experience
• OR 4 years experience in the trade for which no training is available in the Industrial Training Institute or other recognised institution
• Should qualify a trade entrance examination

For MTS (Peon):

• Matriculation or equivalent pass
• Two years experience as office attendant

For MTS (Sweeper):

• Matriculation or equivalent pass
• Two years experience in cleanship in any recognised firm

Experience Requirements

• Mechanical Fitter: Apprenticeship completion or 1 year trade experience with ITI training or 4 years trade experience without formal training
• MTS (Peon): Two years experience as office attendant (mandatory)
• MTS (Sweeper): Two years experience in cleanship in any recognised firm (mandatory)
• Experience Certificate as mentioned in the advertisement must be submitted

Salary/Stipend

• Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman): Level-2 in Pay Matrix as per 7th Central Pay Commission
• MTS (Peon): Level-1 in Pay Matrix as per 7th Central Pay Commission
• MTS (Sweeper): Level-1 in Pay Matrix as per 7th Central Pay Commission
• All posts are regular permanent positions under General Central Service
• Applicants will be entitled to all allowances and benefits as per Government of India rules

Age Limit (as on 20-01-2026)

• Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman): Between 18 to 25 years of age
• MTS (Peon): Between 18 to 27 years of age
• MTS (Sweeper): Between 18 to 27 years of age
• The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date of receipt of applications i.e. 20-01-2026

Age Relaxation

• Central Government Servants: Who have rendered not less than 03 years regular service as on closing date shall be permissible for age relaxation of up to 40 years
• SC/ST Central Government Servants: Age relaxation up to 45 years
• SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy)/EWS candidates applying in UR category will not be eligible for any age and passing marks concession/relaxation

• Applicants are required to enclose a separate blank envelope with Rs. 50/- postal stamp (pasted on the envelope) addressed to themselves with the application for correspondence purposes

Selection Process

• Stage 1: Scrutiny of Applications - All applications will be scrutinised subject to eligibility criteria and necessary documents
• Stage 2: Shortlisting - Only candidates whose applications are shortlisted will be issued admit card
• Stage 3: Document Verification - All shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification before written examination
• Stage 4: Biometric Capture - Photograph and thumb impression will be captured
• Stage 5: Written Examination - OMR based objective type examination of 80 questions (80 marks) of 01 hour duration
• Stage 6: Merit List Preparation - Strictly based on marks obtained in written examination
• Admit card will be sent by post in the envelope enclosed with the application
• In case of tie in marks, the candidate older in age will be higher in merit
• No negative marking in the written examination

• Mathematics: Problems relating to integers and whole numbers, LCM and HCF, Decimals and Fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations and BODMAS, Percentage, Ratio and Proportions, Work and Time, Direct and inverse Proportions, Averages, Simple Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Area, Distance and Time, Lines and Angles, Square and Square Roots
• English: Understanding of basics of English language, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and correct usage. Comprehension based on simple paragraph
• General Awareness: Social Studies (History, Geography, Art and Culture, Civics, Economics), General Science and Environmental studies up to 10th standard
• Reasoning: Alpha-Numeric Series, Coding and Decoding, Analogy, Following Directions, Similarities and Differences, Jumbling, Problem Solving and Analysis, Non-verbal Reasoning based on diagrams, Age Calculations, Calendar and Clock etc.

General Information/Instructions

• Application form should be filled either in English or Hindi as per prescribed format given in Annexure-I
• Candidates should apply for only one post and only one application form per post is allowed
• Multiple applications will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations

Nature of Duties/Job Profile

• Mechanical Fitter (Skilled Tradesman): Will form core team of tradesmen towards carrying out repairs, maintenance and overhauling of all MT vehicles
• MTS (Peon): Physical maintenance of records, general cleanliness & upkeep, carrying files & papers, photocopying, sending fax, other non-clerical work, assisting in routine office work including computer work, delivering dak outside building, watch and ward duties, opening & closing of rooms
• MTS (Sweeper): Cleaning of rooms, dusting of furniture, cleaning of building fixtures, any other work assigned by superior authority
• Above mentioned duties are only illustrative and not exhaustive. Indian Coast Guard may add duties of similar nature ordinarily performed by officials at this level
