Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Not more than 50 years as on 01.01.2026. Usual relaxation in upper age limit is admissible to candidates as per rules. Three years relaxation in upper age limit is admissible for those regular teachers presently employed in Universities, Aided and Government colleges in Kerala.
- Qualifications: As per UGC Regulations 2018.
- A-i) A Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports or Physical Education or Sports Science with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed).
- A-ii) Record of having represented the university/ college at the inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or the State and/ or national championships.
- A-iii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET), conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET, or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in Physical Education or Physical Education and Sports or Sports Science, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time.
- Provided that, candidates registered for the Ph.D. degree prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/ Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D. degree holders shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to the fulfilment of specified conditions in the notification.
- NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
- Passed the physical fitness test conducted in accordance with the Regulations.
- OR B. An Asian game or commonwealth games medal winner who has a degree at least at Post-Graduation level.
- Physical Fitness Test Norms for women: 8 minutes run/walk test – Up to 30 years: 1000 metres, Up to 40 years: 800 metres, Up to 45 years: 600 metres, Up to 50 years: 400 metres.
Salary/Stipend
- Pay Band: Academic Level 10 with Rationalized Entry pay of Rs.57,700/-.

- The appointments in the above vacancy will be made as per UGC Regulations, 2018 and Reservation Principles in accordance with the Mahatma Gandhi University Statutes, 1997, Kerala State & Subordinate Service Rules and Kerala Service Rules.
- For the post reserved for a particular community or a group of communities as mentioned, the persons belonging to that community or group of communities alone shall apply.
- Applicants for the post under community reservation quota shall submit Caste Certificate/ Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 16.02.2025.
- Natives of States other than Kerala State are not eligible to apply for the post notified exclusively under community reservation quota.
- Applicants working in Universities/ Government/Aided Colleges etc., shall submit No Objection Certificate from their employer along with the hard copy of the application.
- Applications of teachers working in private colleges coming under direct payment system shall be forwarded by the Principal to the respective Zonal Deputy Director of Collegiate Education, who in turn shall duly forward the application to the University.
- Applicants who have obtained degree/Ph.D from Universities/Institutions outside the State of Kerala shall submit equivalence certificate / Certificate of Eligibility issued by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.
- Appointments shall be subject to the final judgement of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in SLP(Civil) No. 20803/2022.
