General Eligibility Conditions
- Applicants must be citizens of India possessing a consistently good academic record and the requisite qualification/experience as per the Recruitment Rules (2019) notified by MHRD vide No. F.35-5/2018/TS.III dated 04.04.2019.
- Where the notified qualification is a First Class Degree/Diploma but the certificate/marksheet does not mention First Class or Division, the candidate must have secured at least 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized University/Institute.
- Only the primary mode of evaluation (CGPA or percentage) mentioned in the qualifying certificate/marksheet is considered; if both are mentioned, only CGPA is considered. Conversion from CGPA to percentage or vice versa by an individual Institute/University is not allowed. A CGPA on a scale other than 10-point is linearly mapped to the 10-point scale.
- Basic computer application knowledge as prescribed under the Gujarat-(not applicable here) is not a requirement of this notification; instead, the notification requires applicants to possess the prescribed qualification and experience as on the last date of application.
NIT Agartala Recruitment 2026 Age Limit
Age relaxation: Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-servicemen/departmental candidates as per Government of India norms; the notification does not itemize specific year-wise relaxation figures by category. The upper age limit mentioned is with reference to the unreserved vacancies, and cumulative age relaxation applicable to relevant categories shall be extended. Departmental candidates serving in State/Central Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies/Universities/Government Educational Institutions on regular employment who have completed a minimum of 3 years’ continuous service are eligible for 5 years’ age relaxation, subject to production of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of Document Verification. A one-time age relaxation up to 56 years is granted to non-teaching staff working on ad-hoc/temporary/contractual/outsource basis at NIT Agartala, as per MHRD notification and BoG decision.

NIT Agartala Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
As per DoPT Office Memorandum No. F.39020/01/2013-Estt.(B)-Part dated 29 December 2015, no interview is conducted for any Group ‘B’ or Group ‘C’ post. Selection for all advertised posts is through a Computer Based Test (CBT) only, and the final merit list is prepared solely on the marks obtained in the CBT, subject to qualifying the prescribed skill test(s) wherever applicable.
Post-wise Exam Pattern
- Part I (English, GK & Current Affairs, General Mental Ability and Numerical Ability) is common across posts that have a Part I/Part II structure; Part II is the post-specific/technical paper.
- Tie-breaking: (a) weightage given to the candidate scoring more marks in Part A; (b) if a tie persists, the candidate with the earlier Date of Birth (as per Matriculation certificate) is placed higher; (c) any residual tie is resolved at the discretion of the Institute.
- Candidates using a scribe (visually impaired or candidates whose writing speed is permanently affected) are eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination, subject to the conditions and undertakings specified in the notification.
How to Apply for NIT Agartala Recruitment 2026

- Go to the "Recruitment" tab and click the link for online application.
- Select the relevant Post Code and read the notification carefully before proceeding.
- Register and fill in personal, educational and category details in the online application form.
- Upload a recent colour passport-size photograph (not earlier than three months) with clear front view, without cap, scarf or sunglasses.
- Upload all supporting documents/testimonials, duly self-attested, in a single PDF (maximum size 10 MB) at the appropriate row/column in the application.
- Pay the prescribed application fee online.
- Review and submit the application, then download and keep a printout of the confirmed application and fee receipt for reference.
Important: Candidates must apply separately, with a separate application fee, for each post they wish to be considered for. Change of category is not allowed after submission of the online application. Application forms downloaded and submitted offline will not be accepted.

Important Conditions
- The number of posts advertised may increase or decrease as per Institute requirement; the Institute reserves the right to fill or not fill some or all advertised positions.
- Candidates applying for more than one post must apply separately, with a separate application fee, for each post; the Institute is not responsible for any clash in examination date, time or slot across posts.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the recruitment test or document verification.
- Original documents along with one set of self-attested copies must be produced at the time of document verification; candidature will be rejected outright at that stage if original certificates are not produced.
- Persons serving in State/Central Government/Semi-Govt./PSUs/Universities/Government Educational Institutions must bring a "No Objection Certificate" from their employer at the time of Document Verification, failing which they will not be allowed for Document Verification.
- Any vigilance/criminal/disciplinary case pending against a candidate working in Government/PSU/Autonomous body/University employment will result in the application not being considered.
- Selected candidates will be under probation for one year, subject to satisfactory completion as per NIT Statutes.
- Canvassing in any form, directly or on behalf of a candidate, will lead to disqualification.
- Malpractice, impersonation, use of unfair means, possession of mobile phones/electronic gadgets in the examination hall, or furnishing false/incomplete information can lead to summary cancellation of candidature or debarment, besides possible criminal/legal action.
- Legal disputes, if any, with NIT Agartala are to be dealt with in the jurisdiction of the Tripura High Court only.
- Regular staff of NIT Agartala who are otherwise eligible are allowed to participate in the selection process irrespective of age and percentage of marks, applicable to staff appointed before implementation of RRs including Model RRs (2012).
- Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) applying against Unreserved (UR) vacancies are not entitled to any relaxation in age, qualifying marks, or other concessions admissible to their category.
